    Hey Everyone,

New member here with a question about the 3rd gen seats. I am about 6'1" and find the seats a little short. Do any of you other long legged folks feel like the seat bottom is too short or lacks support? I sold my 2008 Limited Tundra to buy this truck and loved the seats, full electric and heated.

I am wondering if anyone has tried swapping seats from a new Tundra, 4 Runner or anything else to gain more support and electric adjustment? For what it's worth I have a 17' TRD Sport with Tech Package.

Yup. People swap seats from Tundra to taco.

I'd recommend you just trade your Taco back in on a Tundra. First it's the seats, then it's the power, then it's the cargo space..etc.

I read some threads from the 2nd gens but haven't seen anything for our trucks. Might have missed the thread. Can anyone link me to the DIY?

Unfortunately another Tundra isn't an option. I absolutely love the truck and the size, just wanting to see if there is an option to upgrade the seats.

I think he was being sarcastic.

I am 6'2 and have a sunroof and don't have any issues. I think a lot of you sit too straight up or something.

It's not head room that's the problem, it's the length of the seat bottom. It only extends about half way to my knee. It seems that the Tundra seats were a bit "deeper".

you are correct. the seats being short and no power and position. Im in a 16 Colorado diesel and really want to go back to the Tacoma. wont go back to tundra and was thing about it but I too love the mid size for me much more. I sold my 16 Tacoma for comfort on my back but had some shoulder issues at time I didn't know going on I think contributed and then I got Colorado diesel. I still want back into a 17 Tacoma . Drove it and Tundra crew again today and I love the size and looks of Tacoma interior and exterior. Power and comfort is all tundra. I put 700 miles a week on and the smaller truck is much more fun and easier to get around plus it fits in garage. Now that I know I will either trade for new 17 Tacoma after today or ill keep my Colorado. not going to give up the size. Shocks me as nice as the Tacoma is they don't have power seats and adjustable up and down also so we can get better comfort. plus as you stated seat needs to little bigger and for support. Even with this issue I am still thinking I will trade back to one but still debating. Don't see it possible to trade out any seats due to safety and all not counting fitting right. Still amazing they did this on the seats.

Go back to the dealer with a measuring tape. Park your tacoma next to a tundra and measure the brackets and seat size. When they come out and ask if they can help you, say you may be interested in ordering tundra seats to put in your tacoma and have them sends a parts dept guy out to help. Do the same with the 4runner.
I don't know about 3rd gen, but I fit well in my 2nd gen at 6' and 250lbs

Really?? I am 6'1" and 170 lbs and my posture is fine. I guess my issue is that I spent $10k more for this truck than I did for my Tundra and gave up a bit of comfort.

I hate boards like this, I am an avid enthusiast and have been on plenty of other forums. I came here to see if anyone else was experiencing similar issues or if there were any DIY for seat swaps.. I guess I'll just throw some Ko2's and level8 wheels on my truck to fit in with the group.

3rd gen forum is a shit show.

You may try the search function though. This very issue has been brought up multiple times.

Hey.. I was just busting you balls a bit ;)

Seriously though... did you not test drive it? Not everyone fits in every vehicle... this is a you problem not a Tacoma problem.

Of course I test drove it, like most I didn't immediately realize the issue and I am not thrilled with the other trucks in the same class. I took the truck on a 1,500 mile road trip and by mile 300 or so I started wishing I had more support. I know I'm not the only one that has the same complaint about spending $40k on a truck to have manual seats.. I extremely thrilled with the truck and for 99% of my driving I have no issues.

I was hoping to find someone that has done a swap because I wasn't able to find anything through searching.

You probably won't find it for a '17. There are some that did swaps in 1st and 2nd gens, which is why I suggested spendin some time at a dealer looking at what might be close enough to modify brackets. However, remember that if you switch seats, the airbags may not have the same connections.

Agreed, safety is my first concern. I will probably end up just ordering the black clazzio seat covers and adjust to the new seats.

It may be possible to get the seat bottom extended and recovered.

If you switch yours out I might be interested in buying your old 3rd gen seats.

Yep and it makes my butt/lower back go numb after about 2 hours of driving and I'm in pretty much tip top shape physically.
