can someone answer this for me.. Can a dealer legally not take something off of the sticker once the truck has been configured.

Example, lets say I don't want toyota carpet mats and would prefer to buy my own rubber mats that are cheaper.

One dealer said, "you can just sell them on eBay once you buy the truck" I'm thinking "no the hell i can't when every tacoma comes with them" lol

It left a bad image in my head for him to say it's illegal to remove anything.
I was like okay don't remove them from there, but you're for sure removing them from the price.

A back step for when I get older, Carhartt seatcovers, 4Runner wheels, Topper, and "tats all folks"! --for now!!
my guess is: they ( Dealer) can do anything they want to with the truck after it is in their hands --THEY OWN IT. They sure can put anything the want ON IT (or at least they are making "floor-plan" loans on their inventory). I have seen some heavily modified trucks on my dealers lot lately. For example they had 49K Tacoma Off road --all "junked" up and a 89K Toyota Sequoia --again all "junked" up

I got a solid deal based on what I'm seeing here and what a couple of my buddies paid.

'17 DCSB TRD Sport, M/T, Tow Package, Tacoma All Weather Floor Mats, Blazing Blue Pearl. Sale price of the truck was $32,300. Out the door was about $34k i think.

    2017 TRDS DCSB Quick Sand
    Auto
    TECH
    ALL WEATHER mats
    TOW

I live in south LA, 9.5% TTL
    Received 750.00 Rebate for Graduation.

I emailed the 10 closest dealerships to me and 10 in the Houston area. Houston basically showed no interest. Toyota of Slidell gave me the lowest price to build the same truck I have (minus JBL). 2 days later they email me telling me they just got the same one I was requesting with JBL and would do the same price. Whole time from initially contacting dealerships till I had my truck was 14 days. I feel lucky. I also wanna give a big thank you to everybody who takes the time to post solid intel on this page. I spent over a year watching this thread before buying my truck and joining tacomaworld.

Working with a dealer here in Utah, they are offering me dealer invoice + $250 on a special order Tacoma since I have been unable to find what I want already on the lot within a 500 mile radius.

    What I want:
    2017 TRD OR DCLB
    Tow package
No prem & tech (don't want moonroof, etc...)

I'm being quoted just over $35k invoice for this. But I'm seeing people getting the same truck with P&T for similar pricing. The person above stated they got the same truck with P&T for $38k out the door, which is where I'm sitting on this deal. How did you pull that off? Is the dealer I'm working with full of crap? I've seen the paper showing invoice at $35k. It may be a tougher market here in UT, these trucks don't sit on the lot long. I've talked to 5 different dealers and all get to invoice price and freeze up there. I've been unable to break the invoice barrier with any of them.

Advice appreciated. Truck shows up Jan. 20th. Need to continue to work on the deal.

    Price it out yourself here:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/3rd-gen-tacoma-model-package-option-costs-master-list.388345/

That will show you what invoice price should be (before TTL) so you know if he's quoting you correctly or not.

I just bought a '17 DCSB blazing blue pearl, manual trans, tow package, all weather floor mats, nav (w/o premium tech). Paid $32,500. I think you'd be getting ripped off $35k, but I am in NYS so it's not apples-to-apples comparison. Plus, if you're getting the automatic, that is slightly more expensive the manual.

Believe me, I've been working with 5+ different local dealers trying to find the best "deal". The only ones willing to go below invoice, and even then it's only $250 or so, can't get the truck I want and are either trying to upsell me into a much more expensive truck with features I don't want or need or pushing me a deal on a DCSB, which I also don't want. The DCLB availability definitely complicates things.

I'm currently working with the largest dealer in UT (Mark Miller). In talking with all the dealers (MM, Karl Malone, Toyota Bountiful, Brent Brown, Tony Divino, Young, Stephen Wade, etc...) this is the only dealer that can get me the truck I want from the factory within a reasonable time frame (Mid January). I've been told Toyota favors dealers that sell more units in terms of allowing them access to trucks in the manufacturing queue. $250 below invoice for another 2-3 month wait seems silly on a $35k purchase.

I was able to price out the exact truck from the pricing thread, it looks like the dealer is pretty close. They are at invoice for the base truck but trying to get MSRP on the options. When the truck arrives and it's time to sign, I'll work to get everything at invoice. If I can get that on a special order truck, I'll be happy. I've been shopping for this truck since September. I looked nation wide and could get marginally better pricing, but it gets washed out driving it or transferring it home. Buying locally also has some service perks.
