Oh, btw, I forgot to mention we're doing a Holiday sale until Christmas Eve. All slimlines start at $649, regularly $759.

What winch is everyone choosing to go with these type of bumpers? I'm on the verge of ordering one of the bumpers, however, I'm a bit lost on what winch to go with due to the restricted space. Presuming I'd have to do a solenoid relocate?

Appreciate any help, I'm still digging through the 20'odd page so of this topic, somif it's been mentioned in here already I'lol find it.

    Thanks

Seems like a bunch of people here have a smitty or warn etc. 9000-9500# winch.

I personally got a warn vr-8000s from a group buy here a few month ago because; A. I have an accesscab, B. I run unloaded/nearly empty bed all the time, C. I wheel my daily driver, and in 14 years I have never driven past my vehicles capability. I wanted a winch mainly because I have always made sure I am not "that guy" who gets stuck way off the beaten path with nothing but a half empty energy drink and a flat spare tire. I hate "that guy".

Sorry for the late response, I just saw this post. But as someone mentioned, those are actually Baja Design lights.

Not a great pic in garage. More to come later.

FYI - I was easily able to install WITHOUT removing OEM bumper at all.

Looks great, I think I have the same options as you, 25" LED? I have the BAMF grill as well. Looks good. How did you run the harness for the LED and where did you put the switch?

Love the combo of the BAMF and SSO.

Actually 20" Rigid. I actually ordered the 25" but they shipped me cutout for 20". They were kind enough to give me Rigid at cost - still had to fork over some extra $ but Rigid a solid brand.

Went with Mictuning switch. Fits perfectly and looks OEM. I put it left of steering wheel where blank switch plate is. I pryed it up from the front and caused mild scratch on the facing. My suggestion is to take a long screwdriver and reach behind there and guide behind blank switch and pop out. Really hard to get hands behind there without taking dash apart. Could not find any good pics/videos how to remove that whole section with rear can light, etc.

Plenty of space to run harness wire. I used tie downs and tucked most of it in large space behind OEM fog light area.

Got the preliminary install done tonight on my 2nd gen 15'. I didn't want to paint it until I checked fit but it actually bolted right up with no issues; I truly appreciate bolt on products that actually do.

Instructions said to disassemble the whole front end but it really wasn't necessary. I popped off the bumper cover and cut. I still have some cleaning up to do but it was truly a piece of cake. I spent about 1.5 hours making sure I wasn't going to cut anything I would regret but actual working time was really only about an hour and a half once I grew some cajones. After the lower cover was cut I had easy access to the factory aluminum bumper behind it. Cut with an airsaw and will do a little cleanup tomorrow but wanted to share some pics before I call it for the night:

ETA: I suspect Gwen will read this eventually and I want to say I would never make fun of your shark, it was awesome!

Speaking of Hawse, for those who want to use a steel rope winch without rollers, Warn makes a Hawse style fairlead specifically for steel which is black steel. The normal hawse fairlead is aluminium and will get shredded by steel rope.

    just FYI for everyone.

What is a good estimate for the amount of time to install this bumper and light bar?

Given the amount of interest in this I thought I would share my experience for those interested. Definitely a few areas I think may be helpful.

Again, I did not follow manual and remove OEM bumper. As I read it, seemed like it was only taken off to make center cut.

    1. First thing I did was cut out the center part of bumper as instructed in instructions. I would go ahead and read over the instructions a few times to get familiar with it. They even made some modifications to manual after a couple of confusing parts. I would say the center cut as marked is right on the mark. I will try to post some pics later of how the "angles" turned out. Overall, still looks fantastic, but being type A I wish I left a little more bumper on those angle cuts. Remember, you can always cut more off but you can't go the other way. I mentioned the saw I used - cheap from . WEAR EYE PROTECTION. If I had one I would use a face shield.
    IMG_4182.jpg
    IMG_4183.jpg
    IMG_4184.jpg
Pics make the gaps on sides look huge- they are barely noticeable.

    2. Take grille off - only requires removing 2 screws on top and 2 clips on top. Key move is to lift the two tabs that the "screws" were holding down. Lift those two tabs off the white tabs ( female end of screw) and gently pull forward and work off. You'll see the multiple tabs on the bottom front that guide it into place when you remove. Of note, when I went to put it back on AFTER installing bumper, the hoop on the bumper made a little difficult to get one end of grille in. I had to make a small 1/4" cut on that side's tab - does not affect any security of grille. Make sure to remove the 4 clips that are holding the small portion of oem bumper to frame. The little flexibility you get by pushing this part in may help avoiding the issue of tight fit when you put the grille back on. ( it will make sense later )

    3. page 8 on install. They circle the 3 nuts on the picture. No idea why. When you get the new bumper you'll see the points where you will need to attach. Basically, all that aluminum needs to come off - it is held by 6 nuts. Take them off - remove aluminum. Instructions confusing.

    4. page 9. My "oem hook" looked very different than theirs. Does not matter - remove it. You can reinstall the bolts - they will not affect install of new bumper.

    5. no mention of installing rubber trim - do it any time before installing bumper

    6. I did not install winch. No help there

    7. Pretty much accessed everything from the top for the 6 main bolts.

    8. can't remember if there are instructions to reinstall the plastic pieces on the sides of the radiator. Definitely need to remove to access bolts. I plan to reinstall after everything good.

Hope I did not overwhelm you with details.

Hope this helps a little - you'll probably learn a few things and improve from my experience as well!

Can't speak for 3rd gens but if I needed to do it again on a second gen I think I could do this install in about an hour, it's really easy. Mentioned it before but will say again, I cut with the bumper installed. I spent more time making sure I knew what I was doing than actually working.
