Well, the original plan was for Mount Snow but the roads were shit and we ended up going to Crotched in NH instead. That was still a 2 hour drive up. Mount Snow would have been at least 3.5 in this morning's conditions.

We're regular visitors to VT though. We have season passes that get us on Mt Snow. We were at Killington last weekend and we'll hit Burke, Smuggs, Magic, MRG and Sugarbush all at least one time this winter. We mountain bike in East Burke, Ascutney, Barre, Pittsfield, etc. all summer. Eventually we will be relocating to VT for good.

Roads were shit this morning and we ended up closer to home in southern NH instead but the skiing was amazing. :bananadance::dancingbacon::cheers:

Auesome for finding a gal that skis. I didn't and the last time I ski'd on the slopes was 24 years ago. Prior to that I used to hit a good 45-60 ski days a year - With two weeklong trips per year - one to VT, one out west. Still got the racers, Pink Panthers, and the Carrera's somewhere in the basement.

When my daughter was 6 or 7, I got her a set of bean cross countries and we'd slide around the almost flat backyard. Maybe it's time to drag that teenage daughter out of her room and go hit the slopes...

Probably need to rent - I'm sure I'd be out of place with my 203's and Marker 747's...

Vssman is right on, there's lots you can do with your truck but you really shouldn't. Sure, they're all nice and want help until you scratch their baby then it's on to an insurance battle that you'll likely lose. Help them shovel out if you're up to it or call for help for them. Keep in mind, it's their own inability to properly prepare their vehicle for winter driving that got them in the situation to begin with.

I'm going to guess she was driving a Prius. They are the worse customers we get, although 45 mins for a flat repair is a little ridiculous.

It always astounds me what people drive up here. Your front wheel drive Accord with factory all seasons is not sufficient to be out in some of these storms.

I have a 4x4 pickup and still put snow tires on it for the winter so I never have a worry regardless of weather. I carry jumpers, tow straps, basic tools, even an extra wiper blade. I also bought the best battery I could and change it preemptively. It really doesn't cost much to be prepared.

I agree. Since I met my wife, I bought her studded snows for her FWD cars, especially now that she carries the little ones around regularly. Cheap insurance in my mind.

I never thought about carrying extra wipers althpugh I have an extra set at the house. I have the jumpers, tools, recovery gear, a shovel, warm clothes and blankets in the truck.
I did yesterday but am regretting it. It's all rain here today, it'd have disappeared regardless.

We went to the gym yesterday morning at 9. Went to get in the car and hear spinning tires. One of the new members couldn't get out of the middle of the gym parking lot, it has an ever so slight incline. Wife and I had to push her about 50 yds to get her to the road. Almost brand new Accord did not fare well in the snow on the stock all seasons

I waited till yesterday afternoon to start shoveling, then finally broke out the snow blower. I was happy to see it start with just one pull! Then I shoveled out my 84yrold neighbor who was out there shoveling for about an hour before I got there. He at least didn't attempt the ice cement left behind by the trucks at the end of his driveway. He's a tough bastard but doesn't need to be out there doing that crap, I tell him every storm not to worry about it and he still comes out to shovel.

Having 2 4x4s be house certainly makes it easier when I don't snow blow.

Still impressed with the Cooper atw on the wife's t4r. You my FJ to the gym and then down to Bellingham to the hippy foods me morning, and the wife's t4r out later in the day to Framingham via backroads and while my bfgs do well the Coopers are much more confidence inspiring.

One day I went cross country skiing at a local trail and forgot about the big ruts on the side and got stuck with my 1988 Nissan 4x4 King cab. A young guy with a Toyota pickup with friends, stopped and helped me out when it was getting dark and I have never forgotten that, with him not wanting anything for what he did for me. I don't know about other people, but it would have never crossed my mind if he did happen to damage my truck and today I would help anyone if I can, because that was me in the past needing help.

    Good morning everyone,
Having grown up in N.E. snow has never been a big deal, but I moved to the DC area after college and the stupidity of what happens here when it's flurries drives most people insane. Anywho last year's blizzard left our road unplowed for a week, needless to say, there were people like myself who had work and are essential personel and know how to plan ahead for extra time in snow.
Then there are the people who need to get milk and bread in there Lexus or Honda accord. The snow was up to my axle so it was over there bumper.
I always at least have the shovel, salt and a strap. If there is any chance they need a tug I explain to them I'm willing to help you, however you need to understand the risks of pulling your car through a pile of snow/ice. Then try and use factory tow spots, and showed a Lexus owner that the little cover on the front bumper was where the eye bolt screws in for that purpose.

I'm in the same position, with an 83 year old former Marine for a neighbor and just finished shoveling his driveway/car. It's funny one year he went to visit his family and said to me, "Why don't you take my snowblower and use it while I'm gone?", I told him "that's OK, I like to shovel" and fate would have it, we got about 2 feet of snow and the end of his driveway was up to my chest. I still shovel both of our driveways, even though he has a snowblower =, but I truly do love to shovel, but just not 2 feet when I have my own to do too. :D

Haha, I used to not mind shoveling either but my back has decided otherwise after many houses with long driveways. My father in law upgraded and gave me his old one a few years back which I kept running for a couple seasons then finally upgraded last season to a real snowblower.
