With blazing good credit, unlike me, stuff like this happens. New vehicles are my weakness, I'd have done it also. Like today if they call....

Although I have not driven the Gen 3s I am sure they are nice trucks. IMO though I have something special as the only year that a TRD Pro was offered on the Gen 2s. According to some magazine (Car and Driver?) the Tacoma was due for a new engine. I find it interesting though that Toyota is still putting the 4.0L in the 4Runner. In any case I like it. I have 8,400 miles on it after driving it off the lot 17 months ago. Driving it from Loveland to Denver International today was sweet - 78 mph at 2200 rpms. Anyhow...

Nice truck OP, I hope you enjoy it.

Toyota should have put the version of the 4.0 that's in the 4Runner in the 3rd gen taco. It gets better mpg and has 36 more hp and more torque.

Close enough to me if the Canadian dollar wasn't so low. It would be even rarer up here as they never offered it to us Canadians. Still no 4Runner pro, that's why I got the TE. And for people complaining about the 3rd gen taco pro grill being $400, the 4Runner runs over $800. It would cost me over $1,100 to land one at my door, and it's not even an entire grill, a black stick on Toyota bar and the small plastic mesh piece above it. Plasti dip won that battle...

Enjoy your new truck, the interior and features are a step above the 2nd gen, thats for sure! If your not the kind of guy that keeps his vehicles for a long time (like me) who cares about collectibility or how rare the truck is!

I would correct your statement to "many buyers are trouble free, the few that had problems have been corrected by various TSBs or warranty work and fewer still are awaiting resolution. Face it, Toyota is moving almost as many as they build every month. Whatever reliability issues claimed here in TW don't seem to be translating to real world sales figures.

For every one person that dislikes their 3rd gen, 10,000 others love their trucks. It's a forum. People mostly come here to find out what 's wrong with the truck or find solutions to problems. Few actually seek the community for for the good part of it.

Holy thread resurrection fan boy responses. But to you and the previous poster that said the same thing in a nutshell, got it, point was the blind idiotic claims of people here that no one has problems which is very wrong, irresponsible, filled with assumption and not helpful to anyone with or without problems. This is my 6th Tacoma and 2nd 3rd gen, I have a bit of experience with them, good and bad.

Fair enough but a guy that is excited about his purchase doesn't need to hear about issues and problems. Like going up to a kid on Christmas after he got his new Huffy and saying, " Well kid that bike is nice but the frame will rust on it, chain will break at about 4 miles and your seat will squeek." Just bums people out. I have never said mine is trouble free. I had to fix the vibrating passenger speaker cover issue thing and yeah the transmission hunts but I am still happy with my truck. I am grateful for what I have... OP enjoy your truck man!
