Gas Hog?

All my Tacoma's have done worse in the cold on shitty winter fuel.

 

It doesn't matter what size tank you have. Divide the miles driven by how many gallons you put in (will say it on the gas pump). The gallons will be different everytime you fill up

 

I just filled my tank yesterday, showing 212 miles with a touch over 1/4 tank. I have pulled 370 miles out of a tank on this truck. Of course,winter blend fuel you'll get worse mpg. And stop letting your truck "warm up".Not needed and a huge waste of gas.

 

Letting it warm up when it's -30°F is definitely needed.

 

we don't buy Tacoma's for their gas mileage, that's like marrying a fat chick to wear a bikini LOL

 

I'll disagree. I see you're in Alaska,shouldn't you guys plug in your vehicles? We was required to when I was up there in the Air Force. Start your truck,put it in gear,connect your seatbelt,adjust your balls or whatever else you do and drive your truck.

 

Warm it up , don't warm it up , whatever , its your truck

 

Haha, not much ball adjustment when it's that cold. Even with it plugged in it only helps the engine start up better with warmer oil and a warmer battery. Letting the engine idle a few minutes helps warm up the other fluids, especially power steering. It's not as noticeable with the Tacoma, but my 1990 Range Rover steering is extremely stiff and the p/s pump moans and groans pushing the fluid if I don't let it warm up.

 

you are getting better mpg numbers than my 12.5 - 13.5

 

change out the PS fluid with Valvoline Max Life its thinner ATF good for Artic temps

warm up also helps get the oil circulating thus coating all the moving parts after overnight lube loss.

 

It's an old British truck, it pretty much changes all its fluids on its own.

 

I usually start my truck and then scrape the windows or clear the snow so that is my warm up time.

Use the number of gallons the pump says you put it, then divide into miles traveled... Not your idea of what the tank holds.

FYI:
The tank holds 21.1 gallons (this is in your owners manual).
When the low fuel light comes on the tank has 4 gallons still in it (17 used).
When the needle is on E, there is still 3 gallons left.
15-21 mpg is the normal 4.0 V-6 mileage range for trucks with 4WD. When you use 4WD then the mileage will be closer to 11 mpg!

 

Then I get about 15.xx MPG. Haven't used the 4x4 that much yet. Hope don't have to at all.
