Anyone else have a serious issue with the lack of head room because of the sunroof brackets? I'm 6'1", so I'm not super tall and I can't even sit up semi straight when my head isn't in the sunroof.

Anyone done any mods to create more head room? Or have any ideas

People have raised their seats in previous gen trucks but I have yet to hear of someone lowering them. Tacoma seats are already pretty low to the floor. Models without sunroof have a lot more headroom.

Trade truck for sr5 and use the money to upgrade suspension back to trd standards! Or better....

That's not a bad idea. I don't know if I could do it tho. Even tho the headroom is almost a deal breaker

That's the route I went and I'm happy as a clam, although for different reasons. I'm not tall by any standard hahaha. The sr5 has nearly the looks of the sport with the colour matched panels, but no fake hood scoop to reflect the sun into your eyes. With the 5-6k in savings, you can throw one hell of a lift or a mild lift and nice stereo in your truck!

I sat in the limited and had the same issue. I Just picked up a 2017 offroad without the sunroof of course. Kind of makes me wonder how something like this gets overlooked by the designers.

I know it. There is a serious difference in headroom with and without the sunroof. I would have gone without the sunroof had I known it would have been such a problem. But you also can't get the tech package and heated seats without getting the sunroof.

I'm up in Canada and we appear to have a different off road package. I have no sunroof but still got heated seats and colored rear bumper.

No you're probably right. The truck we get doesnt have the option of a tech package offering like you guys down south. It only comes in one configuration for the 4 door up here in the offroad model. It's automatic and short box only but heated seats are standard along with the colored rear bumper. There may be a couple of other minor things but that's about it.

2017 I'm assuming? I have a 2016 TRD OR and it doesn't have colour matched bumper

I'm 6'2" and 225lbs....no way I could own one of these with the sunroof. I sat in a tech package truck and knew instantly I was going to being going without heated seats. Katzkins with heaters after the new year for my truck.

I'm 6'4", 270, and while the 2017 with sun roof is a snug fit, the way I sit gives me a half inch or so head room. The bigger problem I have is the steering wheel doesn't telescope out far enough. It's my wife's truck and heated seats were her top item. If I had to drive it daily, hitting any slight bump brushes my head against the roof and that would probably get old, but I slouch anyway and it works for me here. :)

You're right if the steering wheel came further out it wouldn't be such a big deal, you could lean back far enough so you're head isn't hitting the ceiling

I am 6ft and have enough headroom. I might occasionally hit my head on the door frame while getting in but once in I don't have a problem. Maybe I have a shrunken head or some of the rest of you have to big a head.

Yes I have a 2017 in the 4 door configuration. I'm not sure if the new access cabs have a chrome or color matched rear bumper.

I believe the color matched bumper is part of the Premium Tech package because of parking assist and blind spot sensors.

6'4" and had the same issue. Didn't really care about having a sunroof anyway, but wanted the premium tech package for everything else. There was no chance of that happening after a test drive though. Sucks that you can only get certain features with that package.
