I wanted to replicate something like this

But I don't have the programming skills. So I installed a front and right side camera with a rotary dial so I can swap on demand. Great for parking garages and offroading so I don't require a spotter.

Learn to judge distance. Or... if you staunchly refuse to do that - glue a rubber strip across the bumper to protect the paint. Go forward until you can't anymore or what ever is in-front of you wiggles a bit. Maybe falls down. To add a challenge to the game - do this in the bike parking area outside the Hell's Angels HQ.

If only there was a good-looking way to integrate one of those Japanese market corner / fender mirrors:

    P1010119_232f7f36f30a65a4e84fce599a010e7c22e9ef7e.jpg

Of course we have to be pedestrian-safe here and a squishy kidney puncher wouldn't fly, but those usually are WAY better for blind spots and judging distance.

Couldn't you use the same sensors but place extra ones upfront? They won't show on the screen correctly but when they start beeping you'll know you're close.

The cheap and easy way would be to forget the sensors. Go to walmart, or almost any auto parts store and get an add-on reverse camera that comes with a screen. Mount the camera in your grill aimed forward and down (adjust as needed to get the view you want). Mount the display on a bracket above or next to your rear view mirror. Instead of wiring to your reverse circuit, wire to a switch so you can turn it on/off as needed.
Doesn't require tapping into a circuit on a brand new truck (and killing your warranty if you fry the computer), and if done right it is completely reversible without obvious holes in the bumper.

    "Several smart-ass remarks inserted here"

You have anger management issues. Take some Prozac or buy a plate bumper and you'll be fine.

    Welcome to TW!

    ;)

P.S. You weren't here for the last thread on this very 'sensitive' issue. It was a doozie.

I would seek advice elsewhere. There are a few knowledgeable people on this site that are willing to help but most are trolls that act like teenagers. I've been a member for almost 8 years and it's a shame what this place has become.

What's to be expected when someone asks how to drive forward.

OH shit.... curb feelers!!! My parents had those on their oldsmobiles before. Made a horrid sound, but those "sensor" worked so well just before the "curb bumping".
