4.6i in Tacoma

We dont have rear disc brakes, why would we get a v8?

 

The logic of why not just get a tundra is way off. This isn't the corolla to Camry game here. People buy tacomas because they like the truck not because of the "oh I wish I bought a tundra". I love my Tacoma I would just love to have a v8 that the company has and it would fit right in.

 

I think Toyota needs to follow Ford and turbo their engines. Something that could be very curious is offering that factory supercharger again..I'll take a super anyday.

Why would anyone put a stupid 4.6 l V-8 in a Taco? That is ludicrous !!!

Because I would put a 5.7 l V-8 instead. Hell Yea Baabe !!!

Yea anyone who has opened the hood can see the space under the hood. I'd like to see a small v8. And I highly doubt that putting in a v8 would hurt the tundra sales. Make it an option. Really what they need is to put it in the TRD pro. Anyone buying a pro is not worried about mpg. There's no argument to a TRD not having the 4.6 v8.

The real question though - what transmish would Toyota put in to destroy the joy of having that power?

 

A CVT with 2.90 axle ratios. Actually, any automatic would ruin it for me.

 

I'd say yes only if I can still have 6-speed manual.

V8 manual tacoma with 4.30 gearing....

 

The fact these discussions are so popular on the third gen forum just reaffirms my belief that Toyota left quite a bit to be desired with this powertrain

 

It's a balancing act of cost vs demand. I'd like to have a 4.8L V10 from the LFA but again what would that do to the cost of the truck You say towing would be better but laws of physics would beg to differ. Full sized trucks tow better not just because they have bigger torque but more importantly because of mass, increased wheel base, etc.

 

Well I'm guessing a 4.8L v10 is super expensive and is not mass produced like the 4.6 from Toyota. Did you miss the whole part where I supported the cost with the fact that it would most likely be 1-2 grand. Also for towing; what tows better a third gen with a 4 cylinder or one with a 6. the Tacoma with the 4 banger is an awesome setup but towing is not it's game. Look at the Colorado with a diesel. It has more torque therefore tows like a champ compared to its gas option. You're right to an extent however a 3rd gen with a v8 wound tow better plain and simple.
