    In late October, we went to Black Mountain in Harlan County Kentucky. We stayed in Benham Ky, which is right next to Lynch Ky. Lynch is considered the poorest town in the United States. Not so much how poor the poorest are, just that there is no middle or upper class.....ALL poor. Once the coal industry started falling on hard times, these people struggle just to get through the day. No nice restaurants, no new cars and trucks, not much of anything..... I have to say it... People like us have no clue what poverty is until you see how people who are truly impoverished live their lives.
