Yea the idiots who towed my tenants mini just found out about how not to use a threaded tow hook as a strap down spot... completely bent it so now its stuck in the car because the bumper gets in the way as you try to unscrew it and the bumper can't come off with the tow hook in. Idiots...

 

Yes. straight pulls only and make sure it is threaded all the way in. That being said I almost always pull people up a hill close to my house. I explain I am not responsible if there is damage and if they question me I tell them to wait for AAA

 

I used to help everybody I found during a storm. Now, I help the people who live on my hill up it, and tell them to stay home for the rest of the storm.
Everybody else I gauge how far into the snowbank they are. If they're just nosed in from a slow slide I'll pull them out and tell them to be careful. But if they're buried, I leave 'em there. They were obviously traveling too fast for the conditions and I'm not going to be the one to set them free to go maybe kill somebody.

 

People disappoint me every time. So I don't help anyone- just my friends.

Always amazing to me how many people think 4x4 means that they can go anywhere anytime regardless of other factors.

 

I would say off road is a completely different animal. Generally, if someone is stuck off road, hopefully they understand the ins and outs of recovering a vehicle (and the expense of having a professional come do it). I would help someone out off road if I was equipped to do so.

 

Wait... What??? I have 4WD and I can't go anywhere, anytime? But, but, but, the salesman told me I would be able to!!!

 

Long ago my friend bought one of the S10 Blazers and thought that..despite my warnings.

My 4 banger 88 Chevy Celebrity made a 10 minute drive that took him 30 minutes, I was was ordering my 3rd pint of beer when he finally arrived.

 

What did he get stuck off road?

 

Fuse panel is finally done - just need to get it into the shop, run the wires and make custom wire lengths to the battery. Waiting for my new battery and terminals to get in before I do all this.

 

That comment is too true to laugh at unfortunately. Its insane seeing the number of people who bought an AWD, and drive through the worst snow storm to go out to lunch at Applebees. The mall parking lot is full of full size suburbans and subaru foresters, all clueless morons who think they are above the weather cause, "psh, I got AWD bro".

And for the record... I can understand all the wiring but it took me an hr to figure out how to wire up the switch harness because the diagram OTRAWWT or whatever their name is gave me was wrong....

 

Yeah, in the woods I'd probably help someone get unstuck.
