    in your situation, stay 265/75

Id get the 4x4 swap done first. Then maybe thing about doing regearing and 285s. By then you may get a feel for how much offroading your doing and if you even need or want larger tires.

You won't know until you go out and do it. So put some dirt miles on the truck before spending money and having to worry about gear ratios and clearing bigger tires.

    Sound advice
I've spent a fair amount of time o the dirt . And know I need more traction on my tires and more lift for my sleeping platform living.

Also just found out that bfg makes a 275/75

Considering your a prerunner..you probably just need 4wd haha but better tires never hurt.

Ben runs 275/75s. Pretty good size for our trucks. Tall but not too tall or too fat. A true 32. Hard to find though so if you get a flat somewhere that can be an issue as we found in Canada so make sure you have a full size spare.

More lift isn't always a good thing either. But more load capacity is probably needed would be my guess.

    Stuff. Also things.
    FWIW, I'm running 35s, 5.29s, 5MT, and 3.4L NA. She's also fast becoming a fat chick.

But the 5.29s give me all the happy feels. So glad I went that route.

Replaced driver and passenger window weatherstripping, piece of cake - even took the time to clean the mirrors and the painted surfaces under the trim. Also installed the Wotefusi Hilux 167 snorkel. It was a nice SoCal day to be outside and skinning my knuckles. :)

Greased up all the driveshaft fittings before a weekend trip to Death Valley! Simpler than regearing, but worth doing :tumbleweed:

Yes, on FJ wheels. Light rub on plastic in reverse and light rub on the frame at full lock.

IMG_5106.jpg I'm having a hell of a time finding a decent used motor to replace my broken 3.4. Seems like a hard motor to find in Canada. Here's a recent pic of the truck

Thanks. Yea its not the best flex but I'm more into overlanding/ bombing logging roads and its decent at those. OME Dakars with 5100s. Im over on Vancouver Island and thought it would be a bit easier to find a motor with less than 250k

    A 265/75R16 is dimensionally identical to a 265/70R17.

Some guys can get away with 265s stock and some cannot. Most are somewhere in between no rub and moderate rub based on my reading.

My regular cab sits fairly high for stock suspension compared to my dad's access cab. I put a 1/4 poly spacer on the driver's strut to offset taco lean and that took my rubbing to almost zero.

If you are worried, a 265/65R17 is close to a 31" and the stock size on a 2nd gen.
