Yes. I think @lotsoftoys has a write up on his build thread.

268k on mine and headache free. Not sure why some have issues.

I think that was an elocker actuator and not the ADD actuator IIRC.

Looks like I jumped the gun on assuming it was stuck.

Now I'm curious if there is an underlying electrical issue, or if anyone may have another suggestion.

Yesterday morning I drove around in 4x4 intermittently as the roads weren't plowed very well around Golden. Again, the front would not disengage upon stopping, shifting into 2H, and then rolling forward. I had to do a series of forward/reverse movements to get it to turn off.

Today was a similar situation. I had to put it in 4 going up an incline on the way to the gym. When I got there, it would not disengage. It wasn't until leaving that it actually switched off (after letting it sit, turned off for a while). No difference in how I was driving from the time of arrival to departure, other then when I pulled forward while leaving it decided to switch.

    Ideas?

Is it possible the front different has pressure on it and the actuator will not disengage until that pressure is removed? Not that it matter but when was the last time your front different oil was changed?

I thought that was the case at first, but moving both forwards and back didn't seem to do anything (I traveled ~20ft in each direction in the parking lot). Diff oil was last changed around July (after regear and breakin). I had to add a bit more when I swapped out the first actuator as well. It seems like it's in the actual shifter (no click or disengage).

I tested it yet again while leaving work and it disengaged just fine. :notsure:

@thefatkid have any thoughts? Am I just an idiot?

It's prolly just cold. Might need some slickum on the shaft to help it move easier.

I think the relay is on the passenger side foot well. Should be able to hear that close when you shift in/out of 4x4, with the truck off but in the run position. You can also hear the actuator if it's working. I'm 99% sure that I confirmed that the motor in your old actuator was bad at RT with the volt meter. This sounds like the actuator is good it just might not be getting the signal to switch or its getting stuck for some reason. Is the breather still connected?

Yeah, the one at RT was definitely toast. I can hear the relay when it disengages...didn't hear anything when shifting, though. I'll take a look at the breather in the morning.

Not coming out of 4wd? Typically on your generation of truck it means your drive line is in a bind. Is the light turning off? You still feel it in 4wd like binding while turning?

The light only turns off once it disengages. If I sit in place, do not move, and shift into 2H the light doesn't go off. It's only when I move forward, similar to what @Gramps explained, in that it seems to provide pressure relief. Again, this has been happening intermittently: it'll disengage on the spot at times, other times it won't after various shifting and moving.

The only time there is binding while turning is when it's stuck in 4, which is also when the light is on.

You'll have to come and see me to talk about this, usually over beer. You are describing a normal condition though

Not much going on with the build since I've been in South Dakota for the holidays.

This little gal has been taking up most of my time.

Have some big plans for the rig that will be happening at the turn of the new year.
