I'm actually enjoying quite a bit of this haha and wasn't expecting such a response. Whenever I post on here I try to be as accurate as possible to see what kind of response it brings :poking:. Hit the lottery with this one.

I'm just glad that Goodyear ended up being able to patch the tire for free.

I will def keep an eye out for those eBay tire deals, but I actually happen to live about 10 miles from a tire rack distribution warehouse so it's pretty easy to go pick tires up from there with no shipping charges to worry about :bananadance:

Your initial description was a slit. I don't think slits get patched, just punctures.

If it was a flaw in the tire, they'd replace it under the tire warranty. If it was a road hazard, as it appears, well, you get to fix it.

Don't worry about the patch itself. Done right, it will be there and just fine when the tires wear out.

Personally, since you have such low miles on them, I'd put it in the spare position and the new matching spare on the ground and rock on.

I am surprised some one hasn't sued yet. Need to remember it's never the person it's always the equipment.

I guess I am just saying I would rather use my 3 ton floor jack, assuming I had the option... The few times I have had to use my OEM provided jack, I felt like I was giving a fat lady pogo stick lessons, but like I said, maybe I just need practice/instruction.

The spare wheel is different huh? Too bad.

Yea, I'd not mess with that either. Unless you'd done it during the patch job, when they had one broken down already.......

I have had two flats on my truck. I have the goodyear wranglers. Both were on the paved road and both were on the right rear. The first one I ran over what appeared to be a small part of a door hinge. This was in town rolling at about 30 MPH. I had the dealer break it down, patch it from the inside and put it on my spare rim and mounted the spare on the factory rim. The second flat was the same position , right rear on paved road. I am not sure what this was but I heard the front tire run over it and the back tire got the puncture. I plugged this one. First flat at 2000 miles , second flat at 7600 miles. Looking at buying some Firestone Destinations. Anybody run those?

Actually I'd argue the stock trd OR good year adventure with Kevlar are one of the things they got right on the 3rd gen. I beat the hell out of mine now on some of the toughest terrain in the country over 20k miles with not a single issue. Thorns cacti, mesquite brush, jagged rock, ice and snow. They perform as well as a ko2 in mud which is to say not great but with 4x4 you can get in and out of most back country and unmaintained ranch or forest roads. They've performed very well on pavement as well.
