Funny that @kire feels the 2008 is simple. I just came from a 1991 and the length of bookshelf dedicated to FSM grew substantially when I added the ones for the 2008. But that old truck had levers and cables working everything. The only complex thing was the EFI and that could be fairly compared maybe to a college engineering senior project in terms of complexity. It used a drivetrain that was first used in 1979 so it was extremely simple.

I'd sell my vette before I'd sell my Taco. 8 years later and the Taco is still my dream car.

Had my 06 for 8 years and 100,000mi and loved it. Traded it in for a 14 Impreza only lasted 6 months with it. Got a 15 only difference was 06 was an off road and 15 is a sport

Purchased new in 2009, The truck sits a lot, I think less than 40k , I have thought about a new one, but now I am starting to get that "Nice old Truck" look, and Ya, I kinda do like the look of the older access cabs, we will see.

I go through phases of wanting to drive it all the time or ride the motorcycle, but I would not trade it for any other four wheeled vehicle that I could afford.

After 8 years, hell yes I still do!

I've had mine since April 18, 2008, driven off the dealership's lot, brand new.

After now coming up on 10 years and 212,260 miles later you bet I do enjoy driving it. Believe it or not, even still get offer's from time to time asking if I would be interested selling it. Straight answer-Nope!

Couple months ago, took it to the dealership to have the leaf springs replaced and while waiting, even the dealer offered me (get this) their top dollar $ price (yea right) of $6K. Salesman claimed that he had never seen such a high price offered to anyone before. Right then and there I thought to myself "yea right" and wanted to tell him "really, well pull my leg and hear my balls play jingle bells if you want me to believe that BS". I just said nah, salesman was trying to get me to buy a new 2017 3rd gen model.

Had my '05 Prerunner since new. 160000 miles, usual preventative maintenance, leaf spring recall, still like new! Most reliable vehicle I've owned.

I'm in Arizona and because of always having only a 2 car garage where we have storage and the Wife's car, mine has never been garaged and my speedway blue paint is toast. That's the one thing that pisses me off even though I had it waxed every few months. Other than that, the driver seat lower bolster is worn and torn, so I need to get that fixed. Anyone in need of the TRD seat covers. I have a set I tried and didn't like them.

Yeah, but I have a SB and wish they made the LB with the OP. That's more of what I am talking about....it will eventually get a FJ t-case, gray wire locker mod, ARB up front, 2 inch lift etc. But only once it's not my daily driver....

Yes, but of course it hasn't been without it's regular maintance up keep, changing spark plugs, oil and oil filter changes, engine and cabin filter changes, new battery, etc. but nothing major (so far thank God!).

As previously mentioned, the dealership's offer was not even close to what I have been offered before. I know I couldn't get 20K because I'm realistic but I definitely know that I could get way more than what the dealership had offered me. How do I know this for a fact you might ask? Because there had previously been others that had offered way more (double) than what the dealership's offer was.

Here's what it looks like today.

I still love mine but I have the itch to buy something new. And no, it will not be a third gen.
