I've got a big toolbox that stays in bed that is loaded with tools. approximate weight 800 lbs
Ive also got a full replacement front bumper with full hoops and winch, and a rear bumper replacement (both cbi)

Also, I need a pretty good suspension. I'm a farmer/rancher and I take my tacoma offroad every single day.

I've been following several threads about lifts but nothing about lifting with a decent size static load.

Originally I wanted Icon. Then I wanted OME since they offer different springs for different loads, and you can add a leaf to the dakar pack in the rear. Is there a better option for me than this?

I had the iron man lift kit. Supposedly HD rear leaf springs. I ended up with firestone airbags and have been level ever since. My truck is also loaded heavy all of its life and used in a rough environment.

Could run airbags. Could also look into AllPro Expedition Leaf Pack, it's designed for constant heavy loads. Adds about 3.5" rear lift unloaded.

Not rated for 1000 lbs of constant load.

    Expos or Dakars with AAL.

I've got a popup camper in my truck 95% of the time. I went with OME, Dakars w/AAL. Had airbags installed at first with the TSB spring-pack so I left the airbags installed. With the Dakars and airbags it works fine.

I wasn't sure what/who you were responding to, my bad. My point was that any upgrade at this point will help him manage his GVWR better than his stock suspension.

Good thread - was gonna make one too. Researching for rear lifts for about 500-600lbs of overland supplies with a shell, rack, RTT, etc. Was thinking of doing Icon stage 3 with UCAs but wasnt sure about the static load in the back for long hauls. I want to keep it lifted for clearance obviously and not sag too much. Would the AAL that comes with Icons (1.5" lift they say) with stock leafs be ok with the 500lbs of stuff or would it be better to go Dakar leaf pack and use the AAL on that leaf pack?

The AAL they include is shitty. A full pack is the only way to go.

Dakars (likely with an AAL) or Expos would be plenty for that load.

Haven't installed mine yet, but the Dakars are beefy and cheap.

Military wrap and two overloads, and option for a +300lb add a leaf.

Ok. Thanks for all of the input everybody. I'm going to order the OME kit with 886 coils and Dakar pack with add-a-leaf. If needed, I'll do airbags.

And, come back here to post the mandatory pictures!

I just put an Icon Stage 6 with the Dakkar rear leafs. Have not had any issues with bottoming out the rear end since. Ride is really nice when driving on washboard.

Andy and I are both pushing 7000 lbs with our fat ass rigs. I have a custom 8 leaf Alcan pack and Andy has a 10 leaf custom pack from Deaver. We both had Dakars with the extra leaves before. The custom springs are awesome and hold the weight fine. Just got back from Death Valley and we beat the shit out of our trucks. The trucks did really well.

So, I got my bumpers and OME kit installed this weekend. Didn't really get the height in the front that I wanted, but I realize I just put on a big steel bumper. Would adding a spacer on top of the OME 886 springs be a terrible idea?

The rear got about a 3 inches of lift. Thats stock suspension with a heavy loaded toolbox to having the dakar pack with the extra leaf.

The front got about .75 inch lift. Before no bumper, after bumper installed and ome 886 coils and shocks, and light racing ucas.

It's got a cop motor, a 440-cubic-inch plant. It's got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas.
spacer is your only option that I know of. someone really needs to make some beefier front suspension that provides more lift with weight. I'm not getting enough lift with my Icons with 700lb springs and preload at max recommended setting. I even took out the long overload from my Dakars and with a constant 300lbs in the bed its still more rake than I want.

from this pic it looks fairly level, but when i look at it daily, there appears to be a lot more rake
