No joke there! Not sure what you have invested in YOUR gear, but I can run a small country with what I have spent! lol

Oh not that much! just a couple g's. My 6D upgrade from an old t1i was a birthday/yay you're finally off my health insurance and this camera is only half of what I spend in a year; present from my Dad. The lenses though- man Over the last 8 years I've spent too much. Now it's been moving on to quality light equipment. Would be nice if someone would hire me so it doesn't hurt so much when I finally buy new gear.

I've got quite a lot more than that spent on mine. Keep it near me at all times and never leave it in the truck.

What kind of lighting gear are you looking at?

Just some simple stuff right now. I've had a 480 ex ii for 7 years. It still suits my needs okay.

In the last year I bought some China cheap transmitters, terrible unsteady boom stand, and Godox 40"box. Thank god I didn't spend over 100 because I can't stand any of it. The box is quality build and diffuses beautifully but just way too big for what I like to do.

I Have a yognuo speedlite, Manfrotto compact stand, and a 22" beauty dish on my Christmas list. Will be buying pocket wizard triggers to replace the China ones after a few more truck parts.

I have a SB-910 and a SB-600 that work great. You can't beat the flagship strobelites. Also have a Flashpoint 320M monolight that has been pretty nice.

Modifier wise I have 2 regular size umbrella's and the Westcott 7 ft. Parabolic. I've been happy with them. I love the way the parabolic wraps the light around. For the stands I'm using RPS Studio 13' air cushioned Heavy Duty stands. I really like then and haven't had the first issue out of them. https://www.amazon.com/Impact-Heavy-Light-Stand-Black/dp/B004U5F3BC

Umbrella adapters took me a second try to get it right along with having to have something worth a crap to hold the big umbrella. Bought this and from here on out won't have anything else. http://www.adorama.com/bg2905.html

For wireless I went with Radiopopper Nano's. Pocket wizards were just too pricey for what they were. I bought mine on Black Friday at B&H for $40 a piece. Does the exact same thing as the Pocket wizard plus x's. I spent $120 and got two receivers and one transmitter. Never had a single issue out of them either.

    Receiver: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/997567-REG/radiopopper_nano_r_nano_receiver.html

    Transmitter: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/997566-REG/radiopopper_nano_t_nano_transmitter.html

Currently in the market for a softbox. Don't know what the hell I want. I love the big modifiers but I also want something maybe in a smaller platform. Considering the Westcott 28" or the Westcott 50" Apollo.

Beauty dish eventually but it will be for a monolight.

Have also been eyeing those damn Profoto Acute b 600 kits. Not a bad price used.

Garage. Mine is heated but just barely above freezing and makes a perfect transition zone. Not that I worry about keeping my gear in my truck where I live, the transition zone helps prevent issues with condensation and fogging going either way. And it is 2 spare batteries on the inside jacket pocket cold eats them like candy. Now if I could only remember to charge them all ahead of time..

    DAFUQ is photog?!

Forgot until last night when I dug out my macro lens that I broke the hotshoe connection on my ring flash :-( never sent it in for repair. Have only taken snow flakes macros LOL, and for the most part only used it as a trigger to a flash in a bucket under the flakes. But this may be a good time to try something else, if time allows this week.

Does sound like a good time to get creative.
Photog-raphy....me being lazy typing. Or a trendy millennial. You choose, lol.

Must be a quality ring if you're willing to send it in for repairs. Is it completely broke off, or just one of the pins thingies broken? I've seen people fix that themselves before. Not myself tho.

Here's a tip I ran across over the years when bringing your gear in from the cold during winter shooting. Wrap the camera and lens you use outside in a hoody. It insulates the camera from the heat indoors and lets it slowly warm up without getting the condensation buildup on the camera and lens. It's works, I use it every time when I bring my gear in. In the truck I'll leave it in the backpack zipped up while transporting so the heat in the truck won't get to the camera. I also keep silica packs in the backpack.

Yeah I see it a lot anymore I was just busting on you :anonymous:

It is a Pentax AF160 they go for more than $500 but I picked it up used but almost like new for $200. It has a full set of ring adapators but the primary is matched perfectly to my FA 100mm f/2.8 macro they were kind of made for each other. Broke off right at the base, and the use of super glue or other cyanoacrylate has crossed my mind. Have a feeling factory repair is not going to be cheap. But might be worth it.

Pentax has to be different  and uses P-TTL. Which is why I shoot in manual so much with the flash. Some speed lights would certainly be worth it and they have come down a LOT lately. I know that I should get some more and am reminded of it this time of year when it is dark so much of the day. And the sun is low on the horizon when it is around!
