I want to add some storage to the truck's bed. The idea is to have a long, horizontal case sit on top of each wheel well, and right under the bed rails. Need an interior width of 6", and interior height of 7 1/2". Would prefer the case to not be much wider or much taller. Length-wise, the longer the better, up to ~60" long. Having several shorter cases is an option, too.

The idea is to mount one on each side of the bed, taking up the otherwise useless space above the wheel wells. One side would contain the compressor, hoses, and some recovery gear. Other side would contain the water pump, related hoses, etc.. Lots of applications.

Not finding anything that matches these dimensions.

Closest I'm able to find is this ammo can: http://www.sportsmansguide.com/prod...surplus-fat-50-saw-box-ammo-can-used?a=604876 . The same thing, but longer would be awesome.

Metal and waterproof would be preferred, but I'm open to anything - plastic, wood, etc.

Anyone know of anything like this?

Thanks for the option. Might be a bit large for me. I looked at various wheel well boxes and none really seemed like they'd work. I have a bed slide in between the wheel wells, so I can't have the box stick out much past the wheel well, otherwise it'll interfere with whatever is on the bed slide. Seems that most wheel well boxes do stick out quite a bit...

Wasn't too sure why you needed the specific size but that makes sense. I have a Owens on my trailer tongue and love it. A lot thinner material than most so the weight was reasonable, plus got free shipping. Good luck with your search.

The specific dimensions are to fit my Viair compressor as-is. If I took off the bottom plate that it sits on, I could fit it into a 4" wide by 7" tall case, but I'd really prefer to have that little bit of extra room in 6" width.

Sounds like your best option would be a custom made set, That's the only way you will get the right dimensions you are looking for.

Yeah, that's the feeling I'm getting. I actually picked up four hand-held tool-boxes yesterday with the intention of using them for this project (two per side), but they're so flimsy that I don't think I want to bother. Will return them and do this custom.

Thanks. I've actually already seen all those, and none are close enough in dimensions to work.
