While we're talking about CB's. I bought a cheap Cobra one from Walmart with a pretty cheap antenna. I don't need anything crazy range cause I was just using it for my RZR to communicate with the people that ride in our pack. However, the reception isn't all that great at all. One thing I don't have done is the antenna isn't grounded, is it supposed to be? I don't have any experience with CB's so I'm just now working with one.

Antenna MOUNT should be well grounded. Antenna itself should be grounded to the radio via outer shield on coax cable. Radio should be well grounded. That should be done via a dedicated ground wire to battery or VERY solid point on chassis. Ground wire should be 16 gauge minimum. More critical is to set the Standing Wave Ratio (SWR) That's adjusted by changing the overall length of the antenna. Most good antennas have a built in adjustability and you determine the length with an SWR meter. Too long or too short (by as little as 1 mm can send "heat" (RF signal) back into the radio causing poor reception and possibly damage to the radio. No antenna is ever right straight out of the package. Cheaper radios are also more susceptible to ignition noise.

hey bill, any new ideas/dates on a ride soon. I know AOP is in march but I don't think I can wait that long. even another dirt devil would be fun especially since we got some much needed rain. the creeks should be up considerably too. LMK. thanks, jason

Drunken Yard Fab is usually in my Yard, I have a field tech who installs diff breather relocation kits though...

I have a 50ft extension cord that will reach to an available 3 prong range or dryer outlet if that helps widen your search #Macgyver

I'm trying to get together a New Years Day ride @ Interlake SRA (Indiana, near Evansville) All depends on weather. Beyond that, no plans pending.

Gonna need a CMC me self at some point. Just not until average daytime temps above 60 degrees. Will be in contact with DYF "field tech" when that becomes reality.

Just bought a new DeWalt cordless impact, a new floor jack, rebuilt my old floor jack, 2 sets of jack stands, and a torque wrench. ZERO chance of using ANY of them until it warms up a bit. Phuck cold weather.

Got 2 Tacoma's to lift, 2 Cheep XJ's, and a Tundra. No flippin' way I'm on the ground while it's this cold. Garage has heat, but also has all the furniture out of my sisters house stored in it while they're building a new house.

Great! Ice cream and bourbon outside in 15 degree temps! I was hoping this was a possibility!

    Just say when!

Maybe we'll get a warm day before LBL. I still need my SWR dialed in

SWR takes all of 5 minutes. I can handle cold for that long. We can do that most anywhere. Plus, I get to sit in the cab with the heat on while we do that!

Bonus check usually comes out around mid Feb. I'll be doing tires then. Either going with 255/85 r16's (Coopers or Goodrich KM2's) OR 285/75 r16's of any number of brands. Will have to do cab mount if the latter....

Well, my CB is one with the center console. so it will be a pain in the ass. rather than disassemble errrthang I'm going to cut the cable under the cab and solder a connector so we can jump in line there lol.

    Also, 315/70s errr i mean 35s are nice :D
