    Still a bitch move.

Also, 4* RB Toneil carter decommits from UGA on the heels of Chubb/Michel announcing they're coming back.

De'Andre Swift has said their announcement doesn't change his decision.

Its a business move. You wouldn't risk millions for a game that truly doesn't matter....(if it were a playoff game, I bet he/they would play.)

You will not be able to convince me you'd risk it.

I believe if they've already hired an agent they are no longer eligible to play.

    I understand, but don't care if it's a business move. It's a bitch move.

UGA has 4 juniors coming back for their senior seasons. Chubb and Michel could have easily left for the draft and not risked it. Instead, they wanted to come back to college. Lorenzo Carter will play on Sundays, too.

Granted, they weren't slated to be first round picks, but damn. Chubb has already gone through one disastrous injury, so he knows how quickly it can all happen, and he's still coming back to play another season.

Clowney half assed it his entire junior year and kept having one "injury" after another, including some "bruised ribs" that spurrier nor his DC knew about until kickoff when he just told them he wasn't going to play. Bitch move. And I don't see this as any different.

Not to mention, Fournette has TWO 10 MILLION DOLLAR insurance policies on his legs.

Fournette signed with Jay Z today. He was still eligible until that.

Your boys at jawja are only coming back to increase their own pay day. If they were probably 1st round picks, like Fournette right now, they'd be gone. Keep that in mind. The ONLY reason they are coming back is to improve their own draft stock.

Clowney is actually a different situation, as he should have just sat the bench. His moves were actual bitch moves.

Fournette's two 10 million dollar policies come with a lot of pain, reduced value and possible career ending implications. In other words, that's a shitty pay day.
His other option, is to go to the NFL, healthy, and get that money and he can walk to the damn bank with it.

As a fan, I understand that you don't care about it being a business move. Unfortunately, these kids don't appreciate the value of the scholarship they are given as much as the NFL paychecks. Also, going through the NCAA is the only way to get exposure and stay in shape to make it to the NFL. There is no minor league like in baseball, or D league in basketball. They get paid very little to keep the NCAA from sniffing it out...and the NCAA and schools make MILLIONS off of them.

Why would Fournette risk injury for $20mill when he can leave early for potentially way, way more? Admit it, you wouldn't.

It's also screwing your team mates who helped you get there. I agree it is a business decision. I look for this to become the norm though as years go by. Just like superstars leaving after two years. The big schools being able to afford the big name coaches and ultra weight rooms etc..

Yeah, actually its not really screwing his team mates, as most of them would probably make the same decision. It is really screwing the university and athletics department....because they wont be making a bunch of money off of him anymore. Also, the coaches should have done their due diligence and recruited someone to step up off the bench (Guice) to go ahead and take over. If they hadn't, then the coaches were actually screwing the team mates.

I understand all of that. And I still think it's a bitch move. You won't convince me otherwise.

Bottom line is when you commit to anything, you need to finish it. Regardless what you're missing out on. Myles Garrett is projected top 5, number 1 in a lot of cases, he's hurt, and he's playing in a small bowl against K State. That's the right way to do it.

You guys think he will be 1st QB taken? Seen some projections have 1st QB going late in 1st round.

I know this isn't an nfl thread but let's hope the browns don't draft him.

Would any university honor his scholarship if he had a career ending injury and couldn't play anymore, say in his freshman year?

Texas has done that. The had a recruit that had a heart attack his senior year of high school and they still honored his 4 year scholarship.

I would be torn in that situation.

I would want to play. But I would also NOT want to get injured. But, I would want to go OFF, and have a killer bowl game....

FSU signed Jimbo to a contract extension through the 2024/25 season.

    http://www.tomahawknation.com/flori...r-contract-salary-extension-fsu-florida-state

Salary raised to $5.5MM annually (+250K)
The contract extends through 2026 with 2 more 9 win seasons.
If Jimbo is to leave, the buyout is the sum of the remaining monies on all assistant coaches the university chooses not to retain. This lets us not have to worry about buying out the assistant coaches if he leaves and allows the school to be more aggressive with raises to assistants.
If FSU fires Jimbo, he is owed entirety of his contract... i.e. $44MM starting January 5th and descending $5.5MM each year.

Looks like FSU and Jimbo are in for a long relationship.

FWIW... I think a decision can be both a sound business decision and a total bitch move.

Staying out of a "meaningless" bowl game could keep a kid healthy for the combine/draft. I wonder if NFL scouts care at all about what it might say about a kid's character when he makes that decision, though. The NFL probably doesn't care. Their bar for morals and character is pretty low. Still...

I think universities routinely provide non-athletic scholarships in these situations. They don't count against the 85-man roster, but the kid gets to stay in school. Alabama has done it. They even got a scholarship for a HS kid who had committed to Alabama but suffered a career-ending injury during his high school senior season.
