What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

Nice wheels, I'm looking to get the same ones in the spring. What offset did you get, -12 or 1? Got any shots down the side showing how far they stick outside the wheel wells?

 

I do it a couple times a year. More than worth it!

 

I read about it on here originally. Happens at freeway speeds when I get hit with cross winds. I'm guessing it is a TSB. They've known about this issue for some time. The only way they will fix the issue is if your vehicle is under warranty still. I think one could argue by telling the dealership that you'd been in a number of times asking about this issue and they have always told you (me) that Toyota knows of the problem and are designing thicker seals. The Dealership kept telling me to check back because they didn't know when Toyota would actually have the seal replacements.
Blame them. They knew about it for a long time.

 

I went with -12 offset. That the best I have but can get some shots down the side tomorrow for you. I went to discount and they rims go for about $225 everywhere I checked and I was going to price match the tires off tread depot but discount had them cheaper anyways and they gave me a rebate for another $175 off when I went in to get them out on.

If it sounds like a nice smooth whistle noise that goes from soft to loud in a nice gradual, but quick, manner, and if it is not easily localizable but sounds like it is mainly located near the left side of the windshield/A-pillar then it could be a door seal. Mine only happens at 80+ mph or in high winds. Press really firm on the driver side sail panel when it happens and t will go away or greatly soften. If not then it's something else probably.

The harsh, coarse, loud one that happens momentarily when your truck catches a wind is the hood seal/headlight seals.

I've never heard what a whistling windshield sounds like so can't describe that one.

 

I upgrade to the Husky Exact fits and couldn't be happier. They fit perfect are plenty grippy and clean up easily.

 

I have no idea what mine is. Comes at around 40-50 mph and once I hit 60 it goes away.

 

Guess I better get my tail in gear..... still picturing fumbling that wad of putty and seeing it laying in the dirt on the driveway though.

One day I'm gonna try this on my little brother's truck....

 

Start throwing some painters tape on areas of your truck before you drive. Eventually you'll isolate the problem area.

 

Replaced the gear indicator light with a dome LED for better light spread

and realized my LED addiction has gotten out of hand. Everything seems to come in packs of 10

 

Tried a few spots already and nothing seems to be working.

 

I've gotten the kazoo sound just a couple times and it seemed to come from the passenger side mirror area. Was going highway speed that time. It happened again at about 40 mph and came from the windshield area. Both instances there were heavy crosswinds.

 

It makes the noise without wind... just can't figure it out.
