In the parts listing for these caps I see an option for a painted cover. Does anyone know about that option? Painted ones only W/O park sensor. WUWT?

Painted refers to the standard black bumper caps that you see on the SR model. I just had a body shop order me some to replace my chrome caps. They are getting painted inferno. I had assumed these caps were a primered unpainted version but that doesn't seem to be the case. Anyone out there able to tell me if the painted black ones have to be sanded down and primered before being painted? The body shop says they currently have a texture to them.

The black end caps I ordered are called matte black and are not only not painted, they are a totally different material than the chrome or painted end caps. The matte black covers are a more flexible hard rubber type material which look exactly like the material that the bumper cap is made out of, compared to the hard non flexible plastic material that the chrome and painted covers are made out of.

If your going to have the matte black covers painted I don't know how well that's going to work out, as they do have a texture finish to them that would not look very good even if you were able to get paint to adhere to them, and it would be a lot of sanding to smooth them out, plus since they are metal or a hard material like the chrome and painted covers are, it will be really hard to sand them down and have the surface come out looking smooth.

Do you have a photo of them. I'm looking to replace my chrome ones and I think matte black would look good on my black truck depending on what they look like.

Has anyone figured this out yet? I got the inboard sensors out of the holes but can't unplug the wiring harness. The outboard sensors: WTF? There's no access from the back side. How do these come out?

I'm going to end up taking this thing to a body shop and pay them to do it . . . .

God I hate working on cars.

I'm right here with you, it's the only thing I can't figure out and I am to worried about breaking one. Toyota said $400 to do it since it's body related. WTF it's switching a cap out.

Going to try a body shop around my area.

Anyone want to make a few dollars of me that knows how to do this in Orange CA area, I'll gladly pay you.

Thanks for the links. I checked them out. They are wanting to sell as set which is understandable. Thankfully I only need the passengers side which I can buy new for 80 for one.

Someone hit me in a parking lot last night and was nice enough to drive away. Anyone had to replace any sensor housings as well?

Going to look at a few of the websites I've seen on here to decide if I wanna repair myself or go through a shop.

This happened to me a few months back.

You need to go through Roman at Toyotaofcoolsprings in Nashville. He will email you a quote. Great guy and easy to deal with. 615-791-0428. Initially I was referred to him on Tundras.com when I had my Tundra.

I'm in California and the dealerships around this area were asking full price for the part and said another couple of bills for the painting since they send it to their body shop outside of the dealership.

The right side is part # 5215504900. $76.51.

He charge me a additional $85 i believe to paint it for me and shipped within a week.

I want to get Roman on this site, but he mentioned he was having a difficult time being approved for it.

Left and right cap links below, but you will need to contact him at the shop for him to give you a link with part and paint together if you go that route.
