    Good morning all, I have a question for all you experienced folks, (older). I'm looking for a 90's or early 2000's 3/4 ton truck. I have been checking Ford and Chevy forums, but they tend to be a little biased toward their specific brand. It seems Ford had problems with their gas motors with spark plugs blowing out, and their Diesels self destructing. I don't know of Chevy's problems. So for you Toyota folks that also own American steel, what say you, Ford, Chevy, Dodge? I am (Hopefully) moving to northern Idaho, truck will be used for plowing snow, hauling wood, basic small ranch stuff.

    If you're gonna plow snow, I'd recommend a Cummins diesel Dodge 2500.

    I should have clarified the plowing snow part, it will just be for my (kinda long) driveway.

    Thanks for the reply, I have mainly been looking at Fords and Chevy's, guess I need to broaden my search.

    Stay away from 1999 to 2003 Chevy 1500 /2500
    I owned a 99 1500 first year body style change it had transmission blow at 50 k , abs control at 65k , driver window controls twice not water proofed, window regulators strip gears, front pumpkin replaced before 10 k pumped fluid out of vent Chevy couldn't figure out why. Dads 2003 2500 brake recalls rotors bad , alternators twice etc. He only uses it to plow in Maine with. Though anything used is a dice roll and really any make is why not do a small tractor unless you want to haul stuff even then a decent dump trailer and a small tractor will give you more use then a truck with iffy history. Just my 2 cents.

    A lot of people around here have older trucks for plowing long driveways, they almost always are Chevy, Ford or Dodges. And always a crap shoot. In addition to what Cypher said you have hydraulics on the plow to deal with and breaking parts on them also. Welding busted steel is no fun when it is below freezing, or when your plow truck doesn't start. With that said the panhandle of Idaho is much like Northern Mn. and logging country. For whatever reason there seem to be a lot of Dodges around. They eat trannies IME, but outside of the trannies they are easy to work on. But who wants to work on your rig when it is supposed to be working for you? If it was me I'd get the biggest tractor that I couldn't afford. Chains and wheel weights. And that wagon to fill all the stones back in that your going to plowing into the yard during the winter. Just saying...

    For Ford Diesels stay away from the 2003 thru 2007 6.0 diesels they're nothing but problems . they have issues with Failing cam position sensors and much more

    The 2003 thru 2007 also have to pull the cab off the chassis for any major engine repairs

    Just got done at the VA for my Primary healthcare doctor . He didn't like my Blood pressure even though I'm shown to have "white coat syndrome " , so now I get to take blood pressure meds lucky me !! . He also got me more pain meds and other meds like vitamins and such

    He's helping me with the problems I'm having with Ortho . Also had to visit the Vampire lab to draw more blood

    Told you , you should have used my line . :{ More pain meds not the best cure all I joke about better living through chemistry all the time but I really prefer not to if at all possible. With luck you will get into ortho and done and cut out the heavy pain meds . Question is how many times did the vamps have to stick you to get blood :} And do you have any left :}
