I was born in '84, so I honestly didn't watch a lot of football in the 80's. Or if I did, I don't recollect it...

I'm a Steelers fan living in Chicago. Grew up in the late 70's in Seattle where the 12:00 games came on at 9:00am. Mom usually slept in on Sundays I would turn on the TV to watch Sesame Street or whatever. The only games on back then were the Steelers in the Glory years. Add one impressionable kid walla A Steelers FAN for life

My birthday gift in '93 was tickets to a Seahawks game that I got to choose. They were not very good at all. The Patriots were the same so I picked the game against New England to see as I felt it was the best chance to see a win. I was right. But both teams were bad in the early 90's.

The difference there is 3 of the 4 teams in the NFC West have been to the Super Bowl in that time (and the 4th just coming off an appearance) while only one AFC East team has gone. Dominance or benefactor of a shit division?

Guess I could say I'm a closet Seahawks fan at least when Matt Hasselbeck was there..went to high school with him, so I guess there's an example of what someone mentioned being a fan of a team not mine per se..so @SH7mi here's an example.

I'll give you the AFC East isn't what it was in the late 90s..think it was 98 or 99 when the 3 wildcards were all from this div. I'll also concede had the Colts not been the team removed we probably have a very different argument here.

That said it is still a division anything can happen. Look at 2008, the Pats went 11-5 and missed the playoffs. While no of the other 3 teams has our consistency they have good and bad years, Miami is having a good year now for instance.

Most divisions have more parity than what the AFC East has had. It is actually strange to see just how mediocre the other teams have been as they have not really even had many playoff appearances in the years they did not win the division. I do wonder how New England would have fared in another division over that span. The fact that they have done well in the playoffs and Super Bowls shows it is not a mediocre team winning the division over lesser mediocre teams and 8 straight is impressive. You cannot beat up on crap teams and make any noise in the playoffs unless you are actually good to start. But the lack of success of the other teams over the years does make me pause when I look at that streak of titles.

Shrug. Since the reshuffle in 2002 they've been to the Superbowl 5 times, had 13 straight seasons with 10 regular season wins or more, been to the conference game 10 times....

Brady has started in the equivalent of two whole regular seasons in just the postseason, and currently holds the record for the most playoff wins of any QB (22). I'd say that's indicative of his being part of a pretty dominant team all on its own, other stats aside.

The biggest problem with our division is that it's got too much Rex Ryan in it, lol.

No shit. Jimmy won them two Super Bowls and Jackass Jones fires him for being "disloyal". If I have a guy winning me Super Bowls, I give him a raise, and leave him alone. Jimmy didn't want to have Jones meddling in personnel decisions and the years that followed proved him right.

Pretty much. That would have been like Kraft meddling with how Belichick ran his team in 2004.
    Stupid.

Jerry Jones' ego has its own gravitational field. If he and Belichek get too close to each other it begins to affect the tides.
