What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

Mine was the passenger side door seal right where the glass meets the triangular piece of plastic by the mirror. I slammed a credit card in the door and had my wife move the card around untill the noise stopped. Once isolated, I put some WD40 on the seal and it now only makes noise in a cross wind that is strong enough to require steering correction. My "fix" is less than a year old so I don't know if the noise will come back.

 

Gotta messed around with that then, to see if it'll do the trick. Thanks for the tip!

 

I had that when I first got my truck. Windshield molding was the culprit.

I know what you're talking about though. I've experience the door whistle while driving on the highway and we've been having some mad wind over here lately.

 

I'd eventually put one on. Lately I've been buying stuff and just have it sit in the garage. I just started sound deadning last week when I bought the stuff over the summer. I have suspension parts sitting since October as well.

 

Replaced my spark plugs on Sunday. Easy job and thanks for the write-up in the Tech section. Biggest pain was the forward drivers side plug connector. No room to pull it off. I found it easiest to undo the coil so you get more wriggle room.

 

Did you change out your grill surround? I did a search on google for "tacoma wind noise from hood" and came up with this old post on here https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/high-pitch-whistling-noise-in-2012.190015/ this maybe the answer to your problem.

 

Nope... surround stayed the same. Might have something to do with the rubber seal that goes around it then?! Might have to check that out as well then. The list of things to look into all because of the stupid noise just keeps on growing.

 

Post #6 and up seem to address the issue.

Just ordered some spidertrax wheel spacers for front and back. I'm running wheels that have a 4.5 bs and they have 285/75 tires on them will I rub?

Clay bar is legit. Budget several hours to do it right, but it is really incredible what a difference it makes.

 

You've got nothing to loose but wind noise.

 

Finished wiring my A Pillar Lights and push button switch. I've always said wiring is no hobby, and let the pros handle it. This simple project comes easy to some, but for it being electrical, and how these newer trucks are computerized and sensitive I was able to reach out to some of you Folks to get it done. I appreciate it. My switch called for a 1Amp Diode to be wired inline on the relay trigger wire. Found a 1Amp mini fuse type Diode, and added a fuse holder and wired it in.

Used a add a fuse in the blank fuse slot next to the tail light fuse on the top row of the interior fuse box to aluminate the switch, thanks @nazlax10. Pulled 12v power with a add a fuse from the 4x4 fuse witch only works with the key on.
Added Rago Fabs relay holder, And drilled a hole in it to mount the relay. Neatly ran the wire harness, and covered it in plastic wire loom. Everything is working good. Thanks again David, and @SilverJack, @SpruceTaco, @ETXTacoma .



Also picked up my Skid- plate from powder coat. Thanks @precision powder.
