My service tech yesterday was awesome. Didn't check the ATF, didn't top off the fluids after saying he did. Didn't put the plugs in the LCAs... and that's after I gave him a gallon of local beer. Lied about it in front of the assistant service manager too. I went back and had a chat with the dealership today about it all and having a different dealership check the ATF tomorrow. They were really wanting to make it right, but I'm done with that dealership after wasting half my day and not even getting the work done, plus lying about something as small as topping off fluids.

Following. Asked my dealership to check the tranny fluid at 5k and 10k service after I mentioned reading about it being low. They said they wouldn't. I've noticed when shifting into reverse the truck jumps a lot when starting out and I get a nice thud when I let off the gas after shifting into second when it's cold. Anything point to low tranny?

I joined the 3rd gen taco group on a trade in recently. I just took it in for the 5k checkup and the dealer flashed the tsb no problem at all for me. But was refusing to check the tranny fluid. Says they check the fluid level electronically! What a bunch of BS. With how crazy these trucks shift im also wanting to figure out how to check it and what kind of fluid to use.

Good info man. I'm in the Springs and I doubt I will use LHM due to the fact that they flat out lied to me when I was trying to buy. They also treated my buddy like a hobo when he was trying to buy as well. What dealer are you going to for service? I would go all the way to Denver for service but it would be nice to find a reputable service center here for the time being.

I vaguely remember hearing you take the truck to a dealer at 5k for a checkup and tire rotation etc... what all should I ask be checked at this time?

Transmission fluid, differential fluid, and grease UJ's? Anything else?
