Still - fuel trims are learned values. Must be one heck of a CAI to lean it out that much. Do you have aftermarket exhaust as well?

And I have to ask - did you clear the ECU at any point, and if so when (before or after CAI install)?

You could try running the 2.85 tune which should richen the mixture a bit.

Well F me. I had a thought in the back of my mind that I may have to redo the wiring vs relocate the reservoir. Redoing it will suck, but it's not out of the realm of possibility, just need to find another location to mount the relay/fuse panel and circuit breaker now. Running out of room... twin compressor, two batteries, fuses relays and circuit breaker, coolant reservoir, and I also need to add a catch can.

Thanks for the tip on raising the pump. Hopefully I've got enough clearance to get it done right.

Bummer, few on xru with the combo, and i had it for a bit too.
Then it rained and the maf sensor got wet and the truck fell on its face when merging on the freeway.
Bought another and the maf seat leaked lol.

But in dry conditions it ran fine.

I thought so, and you haven't had any codes or issues, right? You're also on the stock pulley and fuel pump for now if I recall correctly. I'm staying stock for a bit too.

Ah - well these things add up. Pulley + CAI + cat back pushed it over the edge and leaned it out too much. Cutting the intake tube probably didn't help either as most are designed to create some resonance (BMW even calls the intake a "sound system").

Of course you could continue down the rabbit hole - add a 7th injector and a bigger fuel pump and you'll probably be fine :anonymous:

Just go for it. There are more successes than failures with the Bully Dog. The odds are in your favor that everything will be fine.

comical, cuz that aem/k&n "trd" intake is known to make many tacomas run lean

Ooh, that is a nice piece of kit. I may have to rethink my plans for a $30 Amazon special with a stainless scrub pad for a baffle.

It's a pretty heavy piece. The kit has a drain valve so you don't have to take it apart as often. There's a mesh inside the top section so its probably a good idea to disassemble every once in a while to clean it out.

After unscrewing the bottom, there are two hex head screws holding the mesh into the top section.
