    Hello fellow tacomaworld!
I'm from the east coast (Boston to be precise) and I might be situated out near a place called hood river for a few weeks for work. Do you guys do weekly meets? I won't have my truck (probably a crappy rental car). Any suggestions on what's out there to do? I have never been anywhere near the northwest.
    Thanks in advance!

OR you could also do a rebuild, and "bob" the bed, and do a Rock Crawler...

Depends on the frame damage. You could always back half it with a tube frame, cage, 4 link, and either replace the door (if I remember right it took a hit) or beat it into submission and put an exo-cage on the cab.

Word of caution, everybody loves to give you a dream project when it's not their wallet, time, or storage problem. Be honest with yourself; there's few people who are set up to take something like that on. I have a very weak contact with a guy who could go all out building it up with you, but he sounds like the type of guy who doesn't work on any sort of schedule. Additionally, I would suspect @username could give you good advice on if it was something you could get running again with work.

As for parts, what model Sony? It's probably not the model I was looking at, but curious.

Agree. I was just playing off of Shikokaon's post. Personally, I'd go whichever route would get the most money with the least expense (storage, transport). If I didnt already have a money sucking project, I'd be interested in 4x4 components if they survived. But that isn't in the cards for me.

It is going to be a lot of money and a pain in the ass to part it. I would take the money from the insurance and get something new. Gives you a chance to start fresh and you don't have to worry about sitting on parts or in fronting cash to buy it back.

Parting out shouldn't be too bad, am sure Saechao503 is good with the dremel... However I'm not sure how easy is to dispose of a carcass... Time/space/funds should definitely be taken into consideration so it's up to CaptainTaco to weight all of that in, and see what is best for him.

Some people can afford it, I personally can't as don't even have space (not even a place to vacuum my truck, other than on the side of the road using the bed outlet), much less the $ to sink into another project (just trying to get started on Taco), so a non-working Project Rig is nowhere on my horizon.

Only reason I was saying about the Fixing it to sell, is cause at some point in time a bike I had was "totaled", (some lady T-Boned me at an intersection the same day I bought it, and it only had surface scratches on the frame/fairings). Insurance decided to total it (because of the frame scratch), I bought it back, buffed scratches as best as I could, replaced whatever plastic had broken, and sold it with a salvage title for 3/4 of the cost brand new...

Granted CaptTaco's Taco (tongue twister), will need more than a couple plastic parts and buffing... but there may be some profit for whoever has the time/space/funds to work on it... Unless it gets totally gutted... which would involve a lot of Craigslist Ads... =)

Hey Jason, Hood River is a great town along the Columbia River. There's a few breweries and good food joints in town. You can take a drive up to Mt. Hood/Timberline Lodge via the non-crowded back highway, but if you have a rental you might want chains. Do you ski/snowboard/show shoe? There's hiking closer to town if you're into that too (bring rain gear). On your drive to HR from PDX, be sure to stop at the obligatory Multnomah Falls. If it's not windy/stormy/icy as fuck, you'll enjoy the drive through the Columbia Gorge. If you get a couple days off, perhaps check out the Oregon coast. Portland proper is just about an hour away from HR.
When do you visit? What do you do for work?

I would say take out as much of the aftermarket parts as you can if they will let you do that, especially if you for some reason don't have to buy it back. Those Katzskin leather seats alone used still fetch good dollar along with all your other mods like the pro grille.

But in the end it's not anyone's decision but your own.

Thanks for the heads up, I do snowboard and would love to hit some trails up (it has also been about 5 years since I last snowboarded... though). I'll see if I can fly my board/gear with me.
I am apparently coming mid-late January and I'm just doing some contract support work for an engineering company out there while my current plant is slow for the season.

It's the Sony model that runs with app remote to allow you to use your iPad.
And you are right, as much as a rock crawler build would be fun. I don't have the funds to make it happen. Or the storage for parts or the truck.

I can't do a build off of it. But I can get it, part it out, and give the guts to a u-pull place that wants it for the scrap metal. It's just finding a place that says will want it before I attempt to do it

Haha I don't follow any sports - too busy working and off roading out in my neck of the woods. I would definitely be down to wrench or hang out.

If you have the title, most scrap yards will take it. However, scrap is so low that no one wants to pay unless there are usable parts and then they don't pay much for vehicles that are already parted.
If you get it back and need help yanking stuff apart, I wouldn't mind driving up to give a hand. Have an electric impact, engine lift, and sawz all I can bring if needed. Would just need a few days heads up so I can make sure the VA isn't having me come in for anything. I work slow, but cheap.

We should do a mod day after Christmas! I'll have a handful of small things to slap on the truck. So after seeing a shit-ton of lifted tacos, all I've seen is spacer lifts and bilstein 5100's. Are coilovers not really common out here?
