k so im frustrated.... they found nothing wrong with the vibration. so now i asked them bout the Limited Slip Differential, if they used the proper additive since its a LSD. he said he has to check now on that when i first asked him that the first time i took the truck in. so now my question is can it be possible that they put in the wrong LSD oil and is causing vibration on the steering wheel while turning left from a stop??? would the service guy have the info on the invoice if they used the right oil??

    Invoices aren't always the truth.

From what I understand about the LSD, if you use the standard fluids back there, then your clutch will wear out and the LSD will act open. I don't know if it would cause vibrations along the way.

can it be possible that the gears are getting use to the new additive and causing it to vibrate. all the symptoms right now to me seem like it can be a LSD problem... during the 30,000 service their supposed to change the LSD fluid, i wonder if they put the wrong oil in?

its very possible that they put the wrong gear oil in there. when you use the wrong stuff on a lsd, it will wanna seem to grab real hard or the clutches will chatter like a sumbitch till you get the right stuff back in there.

man, i'd go get 3 quarts of some gear oil and some lsd friction modifier and swap it out myself if i were you!! it probably hasnt really done any damage to them per say, but it sure aint good for it.

yea but they were supposed to do this during the 30,000 service so it should be warrantied by toyota. if they did use the wrong oil then maybe i can be legible for a whole new LSD??? i would do it my self but i heard changing the LSD fluid can be hard to do right

    nah man, easy as pie!!!

drain the oil out, put fill plug back in.......use the portion of the bottle that needs to be used of the friction modifier, and add gear oil till it starts coming out the top.........then put the cap on and drive it around for a few minutes, then just do a quick recheck when you get back. we'll walk ya thru it if you wanna do it brotha!!:)

don't do it. This is a warranty issue. If you touch it, then you no proof that they screwed you. I would demand a new clutch pack from them.

im gonna almost guarantee you they will not put a new clutch pack in there for ya!! all they will do is drain/fill with the correct fluid, and its still not gonna be synthetic either. thats the way dealers are......they go the cheapest route...........and its why i'd do it myself!!

i agree!! in my experience with dealers though, they'll tell you it wasnt a certain thing, like the lsd, that was wrong, when in fact it was, just so they dont look bad. hopefully, you get you truck straight though. i'd still do a drain/fill with the right stuff and friction mod. and see if that does it though, but thats just me!:)

if this is the case, you have already done irreparable damage to the clutch pack. I don't think a replacement is out of the question.

if you can find another means of transportation....i would. or you can drive it and let the dealership foot the bill for messing up in the first place.

I say keep using it, and then make them fix it.

If your clutch pack is toast there is no reson not to drive it, warranty should take care of it.

I don't know what Toyota calls out for their LSD but on my Jeep with the OEM track lock it is standard 70-90wt with their little bottle of friction modifier, supposedly synthetic fluid is too slippery for the clutch packs to operate correctly.
