Black vehicle ownership is a lifestyle that requires too much commitment for me.

I was thinking white, quicksand or silver. Quickly liminated silver because my last tacoma was Silver so that left me with white or quicksand. I ended up seeing a photo on instagram of an awesome looking MGM with mud terrain tires, method wheels and had like a 3" lifted and instantly said I wanted mine to look like that. Went to the dealership and they had one and I took it home.

I love my MGM but sometimes regret it because of how easily it gets dirty but when its clean it looks amazing!

Not true, according to this article: http://www.today.com/money/car-colors-best-resale-value-it-s-not-black-or-t101509

Picking the right color has always been a big, emotional part of buying a new car. But color can also affect how much a vehicle is worth at trade-in time and the price it will fetch on the used-car market. And sometimes, hues that are less popular among new-car buyers can boost a car’s resale value.

According to a recent study by research and data company iSeeCars, the average car depreciated by about 30 percent during the first three years of ownership. In the same period, orange and yellow cars lost only about 22 percent of their value. Indeed, in an analysis of 1.6 million vehicles, orange and yellow cars depreciated less than those painted any other color. Green was the next best at about 25 percent depreciation.

I originally wanted Red....but I saw it in person and didn't like Barcarole Red...too shiny.
Then I wanted Blazing Red....saw it in person and it was too much on the orange side.
Then I wanted blue.....saw it in person and I felt soft.
Then I wanted quicksand....saw it in person and came.....twice.

It matches my Captain Kirk shirt

"Desert tan" works for me, I never really cared for the name "Quicksand".

Actually, I call it my Peanut Butter Dream Machine.

    Wife's 4Runner is MGM, I call her's Jelly.

So when we do runs together our CB Handles are PB and Jelly.

I'm 100% serious about this post.

I mean the red is a pretty red....black is just black....white looks like it should be a fleet vehicle....orange looks beautiful in the sun (even though I hate orange), but looks boring when it's cloudy out, silver to me looks kind of plain even though its the easiest to keep clean.....

I saw the blue in person and knew I would own it some day. Never ever disappoints..... It pops in the sun, it pops when its covered in dirt and sand after it snows, when its dawn/dusk out the blue is very deep. It never looks bad.

Fantastic post for the 3rd Gen forum. Welcome.

Wait till you have to decide on license plate frame color. Recommend the voting buttons for that one.

Basically I love my wife's barcelona red 4runner but the slightest bump leaves a white scratch. So I bought a white one to avoid white pin stripes.

Remember when ford had yellow f150's in 2004 or the ugly metallic greens and oranges of the 2000s, no matter how you spin it,colors like inferno and quicksand have a less likely chance of holding resale value as compared to colors that have been on cars from the beginning of time and are easier on every persons eyes. Ever notice how rental cars/fleet vehicles are always black, white, silver, red. These colors will always hold better value/attract to MORE people than the fad colors. Don't get me wrong I think quicksand and inferno are super cool and great looking in person, but 5-10 years from now? And not everyone likes those colors, always safer to go conservative in color from a resale standpoint there is no arguing that.

I don't buy my truck thinking about how the next owner is going to like it, I buy it for what I like now.

    You are probably right.

I bought a Silver 2006 Tacoma, a Silver 2011 Tacoma, a Silver 2011 Silverado because of resale. Bought the Silverado cause I needed a better tow vehicle, it was a prudent compromise.

Honestly, I was bored out of my mind for 6 years of ownership with that truck.

This time I didn't buy a truck for resale. I bought a brand spanking new truck and took it to an off road park while I had black tags still on it. I scraped it down a tree and enjoyed myself. There's plenty of people who say that's dumb. I used to be one of those people.

    Those people are boring.

White because it looks clean, low maintenance and doesn't show hairline scratches like many of the darker/vibrant colors.

Oh agree I love blazing blue, quicksand and inferno. They are great colors in person and on these trucks, but not for everybody, the boring colors have a bigger customer base later down the road. But why drive a boring truck! lol
