so these are no good? It seems they work fine for everyone who posted them. Why wouldn't they mention that?

Honestly I just haven't experienced the issue yet. I do see what the he means by the FYI, however. But it's easily fixed for me by moving the item a few inches along the rail in either direction. I think it would only be a problem if you HAD to mount the item in the exact spot where a position notch for the cleats were.

I haven't had to do that, so I haven't noticed it being an issue.

I'm more interested in needing to take the rail screws out just to move the thing

Yes, you're right. Multiple people posting the same link. For what it's worth, I haven't noticed any of the problems @splitbolt mentioned. Definitely did not need to remove the bolts holding the rail in place on order to slide these in.

Was about to post this link as well. I have 10 of these, best purchase yet. Just make sure to get some zinc based never seize lubricant. I had my roof top tent mounted to my bed rails and almost couldn't get these undone because I forgot to lubricate Deez nuts

I just opened up an extra 5 pack I had and checked; they do fit over the screw.
    Sorry about the bad info.
Maybe it was the Fastenal ones that wouldn't fit....

1/4in thick 1inch flat stock. Cut 1.5inch piece. Drill and tap for 5/16 28 bolts. They can slide the entire length of the bed rail. Just sayin..

The problem with most T-slot nuts is that they are black oxided steel and will start rusting very quickly, so they need to painted or powder coated and then will they still fit in the bed rail slots. McMaster Carr does sell a few sizes of T-slot nuts in S/S but their expensive.

They can really be made out of a aluminum which would work just as well steel for what most people are going to use them for. I think I'll measure the bed rail slots and machine a couple out of aluminum to test them out.

Also check out "Uni-strut",the rails are the same as there low profile ones,I have used there spring bolts before on my 05 the bonus is you can get them in stainless if you want, pricing I'm not sure of,the company I used to work for would order spring bolts by the thousands

With these, "last thread is incomplete to prevent stud from turning through the bottom of the nut."
    Thses are "Tapped Through."
Exactly my experience with the T-Slot nuts provided by BAMF for their corner tie downs:
