Let's see your GPS setups

I'm curious to see your GPS setups. I know some of you have in-dash units. I'm sure others have portable units. Others probably stick to the trusty old map!

I know there are custom brackets out there, so I'm curious to see how Taco owners mount their GPS units.

I have mine next to the rearview mirror. I have thought about putting in other areas but this spot has worked out best for me. I am eventually going to hardwire it in and run the cable behind the headliner and down the pillar.

 

Man, I was looking forward to see what people had for their GPS systems.. I dont know whether to go ahead and get the in-dash or just get a mountable one (STS). Would love to hear the pros and cons.. of course, there may already be a thread on this subject. I should prob search first.. oh well. lol. sorry guys.

where'd you get your Pioneer and how well does the Nav work on it? XM work well? Thanks alot!

Can't decide if its worth it to get the in dash or just go ahead and do XM and Nav separate?

 

I am really happy with it... I got it from a stereo shop that I have been going to for a long time. The only down side to this particular unit is that the actual navigation maps and points of interests are on a disc. Pioneer also has units where the maps and points of interests are built in to the unit. I never use the cd player on my unit so it works out well. You are able to save your route to the built in hard drive so that you can watch a dvd or listen to a cd. The only down side to that is the points of interests will not be available. I just have my iPod connected in my glove box and control it on the screen. I dont have the xm hooked up yet. Im going to do that soon.

 

This is an interesting setup. How well does that add-on antenna work? And where did you mount that?

Do you find the location to be too low?

And how did you hard-wire the power? Into the fuse box?

 

The wires and brackets sticking out would drive me NUTS. I would have to get an in dash or do something custom.
