Well the Internet doesn't change ladies and gents. There's always SJW's around, all it takes is making a mistake for them to come in force to walk you through kings landing, naked, repeating "shame". Good job buddy. Now you can tell all of your theoretical friends how you owned this guy on TW.

    Taco are you ok?

I total my Tundra a few years back without the airbags going off. But what did happen was both the airbag wires and main wiring harness was stretched so was needed to be replace est was 5k for both and labor too. Can't remember but I think the guy said 8-9k just for harness replacement

Not totaled, 5-6k in damage. Damage must exceed 80% of book value to be totaled. Air bag deployment would have doubled the repair cost

He never said he was on his phone. Could have been anything. Thanks for judging the guy with no facts though.

Texting and driving is obviously dangerous, but there's no reason to be believe that was the case here at this point, and really, it doesn't matter.

    Nice try though.

Hope you, and everybody else are OK op.

Think the guy would be lucky to get off with only $8K in damage. Ill take the over.

He does have a point though, some are looking at themselves in the rear view mirror to do a last check that they look alright before work while on the road. Others are constantly distracted by things around them and rubber necking and the like. You would be ignorant if you are not aware of the other distractions. What makes people crazy over texting is it is a common distraction that actually has a TRACKING process to it. Love guys like you, comments with no basis, just wasted rants. Go get a coffee or some shit.

This has to be the most irresponsible post I've read in a long time. You're actually trying to justify texting by claiming its the same as checking your mirror or buckling a seat belt.
You have to check your mirrors, its a part of driving
You never have to mess with your GPS while your driving, set your address while your parked and go.
You should have your seat belt buckled prior to moving
You don't HAVE to eat in your car
Changing the radio station or heat setting does not require taking your eyes off the road.

Please stop trying to justify your childish behavior with this non sense. Texting and driving should NEVER happen, even at stoplights, GROW UP.

And well deserved, how about you get off your soapbox and stop trying to justify childish behavior by claiming he suffered enough already, NO HE DIDN'T. The damage these assholes cause is ridiculous.

Thanks for the clarification of how you probably execute these actions. Does this mean the rest of the world does it? Likely not, I must confess I tend to do things on the fly in my truck. Not due to time as normally I am early, just a habit I developed through growing up. Many times the tasks you describe get performed while I am in motion, mostly in the first few minutes. I agree that while in motion the risk for accidents increase while doing this stuff. But you might be surprised at how many perform these actions in motion on the daily. Granted I say this living in the DC area, but yea this is pretty standard shit. On that note, I hope you never get a scratch/dent/harsh language thrown at you on the road even though shit happens.

People suck. Bunch of elitists thinking they know everything, even what this guy was doing, when they don't know shit. Keep your horse shit uneducated guesses aimed at yourself, maybe you'll learn how fucked in the head you are.

There it is right there. Couldn't of said it better myself. People forget his truck might possibly be totaled. If these other people get wrecked by being on the road, I will make sure the foot goes up their ass too.

Just Wondering .... re: Air bags

Does the SRS computer take into account if the seat belt is buckled?? In other words..... If the seat belt was NOT used would the air bag have gone off?? Or - if the seat belts WERE in use would the SRS wait until the force reaches a higher level of impact before deploying??

Also, Sorry for the accident - no matter how it happened!

Sounds like there are a few hypocrites in here. Every single person trying to jump down his throat for this has done it themselves. Hell I do it. He said he looked down.... I look down to check texts and so many other things. Get a grip with reality. Your no saint.

This is a good point, would be curious if anyone has any info about what criteria an airbag needs to deploy? It has shocked me that some of the recent unfortunate accidents didn't even have deployment, this one included. I guess on the bright side though, assuming the owner doesn't suffer lasting injuries that it does give the truck more opportunity of being saved.

I'd guess the truck would be totaled if the airbags went off...
If they didn't they could probably repair it.
