Sweeeet! I don't think you need to weld or saw anything. From the videos I have seen, it takes few tools to remove the old bushing and replace it with another one. Hopefully that fixed my vibration issues I am feeling.

Is there any gathering happening for Tacoma peeps for New Years. Hopefully somewhere there is not riots or rubber bullets hitting you?

    Yes... On dry pavement.

In the case of slippery surfaces, you have no opportunity to lightly press the pedal because as soon as you touch it, it acts as if you mashed it, and then you are stuck with whatever options it has for you, which are failure.

I've done that... On snow and sand. Non abs got me stopped much sooner WITHOUT lock up.

You can modulate the pedal without it freaking out as soon as you touch it.

I used to race autocross plenty, without ABS, i know how to threshold brake without just mashing the pedal.

Abs is meant for the average, or rather ignorant driver.

    None, but willing to learn.
When I did my lift I ended up damaging the rear ABS wiring harness. When that happened, I lost ABS, all traction control and speedo. Gas guage was acting up too (must share a ground with the ckt).

Loved the fact that ABS and traction control was kaput. That function of reducing engine power with yaw detection is BS. The ability to kick the ass end out on demand is a must as far as I'm concerned. I learned to drive in Iowa winters and parking lot doughnuts were a staple in learning how to drive a car/truck in the snow.

IMO ABS and trac control is why so many people suck at driving in snow now. (That and texting.)

I've fixed the wiring issue but with this last snow I know now that the ABS off switch is my next mod. Once you experience not having it, you need it (the ability to turn it off that is). :D

    Skol.

ABS works exactly as designed. It removes control from the driver in a potentially dangerous situation.

How do you even do that? Diesel gas pump nozzles are larger than gas ones to prevent this!

I've never had until this 2008 and I hate the mofo. Something about building up 30 years of driving that it has been difficult for me not to pump my brakes and as bad as ABS is pumping is even worse. At least it doesn't have VSC so I can still do doughnuts, though.

Enough to make it a lot of fun!
All this talk about 2nd gen abs has me thinking about my experiencesituation with it and I can't really say I have had a problem and I have have driven in some really shitty weather. I also now live in an area that is 75% of the time is snow packed and I have had no problems stopping at all. I just wish traction control wasn't on these trucks.

How much of a lift did you have using the 3 degree shim? I have only a 1.5 inch rear lift and immediately got vibrations. What size shim should I use? I'm thinking a 2 degree shim. I've read somewhere a degree per inch lift. The 2 incher is the closet available.

Don't worry about it. ABS was designed to be safe, so it is nothing but. The herds of people documenting the issue all don't know how to drive, or have never driven with ABS before since it's such a new technology and they are just overreacting.
