Uhhh I guess I have a virus? first time. Its coming up as some internet virus protector 2010. I knwo I didnt download it. little virus warning popups everywhere. Plus when I restarted my computer it changed the background to a black screen with a green box with a warning in it. I dont know if anyone has any experience with this junk but how do i get rid of it...? I dont get computers very well

do you have a virus scanner? such as norton anti virus? or there is a windows anti virus program. if not, get one and run it, if so, run the program and it should get rid of it. then sell your pc and buy a mac

you should have some sort of virus protection on your computer, search around in your start menu for norton, or anything that's called virus protection really, otherwise you can download a trial, use it and then delete the trial, but you should probably have some kind of virus protection anyways

I have AVG free anti-virus on my old windows machine, and it took care of a problem like this for me a long time ago.. You may have to go to add/remove programs and delete anything suspicious as well.

search up avira. its a free FULL software and not a trial. i currently use this on my custom built pc and has worked better than any subscription anti virus software i bought. did i mention its free!? If all else fails a reboot maybe necessary. Hope you have the cd's that came with your computer though as one of those cds is needed for a reboot, if u go this route back up all your shit on another drive.

here's a link my friend, click the free one.

If you are having trouble getting other products to work, give the SUPERAntiSpyware portable scanner a try:

    http://www.superantispyware.com/portablescanner.html

It does not require installation and has the latest updates built-in. If your interwebs are hosed, you can download it on another PC to a flash drive (or burn to a CD-ROM) and run it from there.

After running that, try something like MBAM or AVG to clean up.

Those fake antivirus programs really aren't viruses and I'm not sure antivirus software will catch it. I know norton doesn't. You can use Malwarebyites Anti-Malware to get rid of it. download the free version, install, allow it to update, then run a full scan and it should catch it. Chances are this thing has set your internet explorer connection to use a proxy server (Tools > internet options > Connections tab > Lan settings. If proxy server is checked, you'll need to uncheck it and check automatically detect settings.) Install this program then restart the computer and boot into safe mode (keep pressing F8 during boot and choose "safe mode with networking"). This is where you will update and run the full scan with malware byites.

I second this, but load up AVG free anti virus when you're done.

I reformat about once a year whether it needs it or not.
