My 2004 extended cab Toyota Tacoma 4x4 is sputtering after I changed the spark plugs, and ignition coil's. Does anyone know what else it could be? IMG_1346.jpg

What brand of coils? Try putting the old ones back in.

Spark plugs torqued correctly and coils seated properly?

Possible but pretty dam hard to mix them up. Unless you put new plug wires on it. But still even then its pretty tough on the v6.

Did you use dielectric grease on the boots. I had a similar issue. Pulled everything apart and did what was listed above. Literally the only difference the second time was the grease. Or it could have been one of the boots weren't sitting right and i got it right the second time. Who knows, but thats where id start.

I hate to sound like an idiot, but could you please explain what you mean by sputtering? I recently had a rebuilt long block (2RZ) put in my 2wd regular cab and it hasn't sounded right since. Runs great, but makes a sound from the engine compartment during acceleration that I call sputtering. Loudest when the engine RPM and load is reaching the point at which I need to shift. At first I thought it might be an exhaust leak but apparently not. Thanks.
