The nuts are welded to 2"x3"x1/4" tabs for the bolts that go through the frame rails. Should hold well you can jack the truck up with just 4 of them in the frame with no deflection. As far as the cross bars go they will tie the two sliders together under the truck and will eliminate any frame flex hopefully. The front of the fuel tank skid will also attach to the rear most cross member. Done for today got to take the wife to town tomorrow it is off to my buddy's shop fore some time on the plazma table to cut out the rest of the mounts.IMG_2890.jpg

Hey guys sorry to ask here but seems like the most populated post... Also before the critics type in I have tried to search, not having any luck.

Question is: when you switch from 4wd to 2wd are you experiencing a decent clunk sound. I've only just now had to start using 4wd and the first couple of times I had no noise going on, now its every time.

Yea it seems to be, I've always had manuals only reason i decided to have a short bed is it was the only way i could get the manual in the offroad package. Then I had sold my other truck and couldn't find a manual in time so here I am short bed automatic...

Per the manual, you should drive a few [15, iirc] miles every month in 4 to make sure it's all good.

Someone had mentioned that a while back. That they never used it and it got all gummed up. I've got about 7800 miles on mine I'm hoping that's not what happened RedBeard1 said this noise is normal though.

That's pretty sad, VERY sad actually. Never have I ever heard of a transfer case that'd get gummed up and fail due to not using 4wd regularly. Shame on Toyota, huge fail.

I tend to take my foot off the gas when going from 2wd to 4wd and vice versa. I don't want the engine to race when it switches over. Maybe it makes no difference at all but in my mind, I'm being cautious and saving wear on parts.

Engine won't race, you're still in gear. Some electronic transfer cases won't shift if your foot is on the gas either way just for safety.
