You'll be fine. Honestly without doing a lot of welding unless the machine was completely screwed up it would be very tough for a novice to tell if anything was running inconsistent. Those older transformer machines are very robust.

My brother does a lot of welding in the military. He's in town for the holidays and will come check it out tomorrow. Going to use the 220 outlet that I have now.

Thanks. Again, hopefully it works. If not then I guess that's on me for trusting too much lol

I've given up on welder repair shops in California. I was just talking to the guys at airgas about it the other day. I have yet to find a Los Angeles weld repair shop that has a good welder working at. All the ones I have used over the years just got the machines back to good enough, but never had a shop with a welder good enough to tell the difference between a perfect running machine and a functionable machine. It's nice to see repair shops that have certified Welders working at them

You will be fine. That welder is not going to give you any issues. 9 out of 10 welder issues are going to be very simple fixes that you can do yourself.

As for the power plug, just add a plug to your existing circuit. If its a 30 amp circuit, then you have plenty of capacity. Just don't weld while the compressor is running. No biggie.

Note: I don't know why Miller puts 50 amp plugs on their welders. I get rid of those plugs as fast as I can and replace it with a decent twist lock 30 amp. There is nothing down stream of the plug that is rated for 50 amps.

Hopefully. You guys got me worried now. I'm going to try and get a bead laid down tonight to ease my mind lol. You mean just tap into the current circuit? That was originally my first thought lol. I'll have to look into the twist lock 30amp plugs.

Any of y'all have experience with the Miller Syncrowave 210?
I'm trying to find a little TIG/Stick welder for our shop, right now we have a miller 211 with the spool gun but I would like TIG and DC stick, we have a lincoln tombstone for AC stick and I just don't like how AC welds.

I had a synchrowave. It was a great welder. Very simple and robust. I switched over to the dynasty because it was cheaper to run and had all the extra bells and whistles. If you was doing a bunch of fancy work I'd look at the dynasty. If it's just standard aluminum work the syncrowave 210 will be more than enough as long as you don't plan on exceeding the duty cycle

Get a 211 or another dvi machine. You'll outgrow a 141 real fast if you're trying to weld stuff thicker than 1/8" overhead

Not sure if I'll ever weld 1/8" overhead.

I would go with the 211 but I still need to drop cash on PPE and the can.

If you plan on welding on your truck you will end up welding overhead. If you plan on welding tube that extra power will help make up for have to weld with the tip father away from your joints

The first truck I ever built was with a 135 or 140 (hard to recall the number it's been a while). It will get the job done but I'd guarantee you'll a few spots welded too cold. If you can get 240 in your garage go with a 180. Mine has been great. I'll probably end up swapping it for a 211 so I can take it to friends house when they need gate repairs etc made. In the long run that extra $400 or so dollars is a small amount of money for the greater ability of the welder, plus not knowing much about welding it will be easy to make sound welds running a little too hot vs too cold. I'd pick up a used 211 with tank for around $1000 if I were trying to save cash

My school has a Synchrowave 250 and 350, good machines but I don't need that much.

Thanks for the info, I won't be doing to much aluminum, probably come inconel/stainless welding if I decide to form 1 some suppressors, but mainly carbon steel.

Yeah, I could get 240V in the garage, but for the $ I'll spend running the outlet I'd get the 211 and start with 100V. The price is $750 vs $1050, they both have rebates until the 31st. Nothing but good reviews on both machines. I agree on the long run point of view. Shiet now I'm digging deeper into the pockets.

For some reason the first generation 210`s seemed to have no real issues .

This last run seems to be plagued with problems did they change suppliers for boards or just get a bad batch

Nice thing about new machines warranties

As a Consumer would you really want another hour or two of labor at $105.00 plus the distributors 30% or more tacked onto your bill.

Factory specs are plus or minus 10% quite a large range to the operator

No way would I buy a machine because of portability. That tool does not move from my address unless it's stolen. In most cases a thief will pass up a welder on a cart with a bottle because it's too much work to transport and sell. If a friend wants work done, he will be bringing the project and beer to my location.

You got a good rig for a great price.
