Texting is just one of the many distractions out there. I'm sure we all have had some close calls. People have been crashing long before texting was available OLD MAN.

There is no free pass if you text and drive! Hopefully, people learn soon rather than later that it is important to pay attention to the road in front of you. Some of you that are okay with texting and driving need to grow up! You are not immune from a catastrophic event that you cause from texting, or you on the other end from somebody distracted. Disrespect the road and pay the consequences eventually.

We just had a few people get critically injured from a distracted driver. It turns out the guy was playing Pokeman Go. Was it worth it? Shut the damn phone off or place it in the back seat!

The OP glad you are okay.

Honestly this is the most important thing...he is ok and the truck might even be salvageable. Yet, still we are having a debate about texting when the op didn't even do that. Some haters just ain't got shit else to do I guess.

No, we are responding to those that think texting while driving is an okay thing to do.

Texting is def a risk that many people take on while driving. But at the same time with all the other shit now available in the truck like fancy radios, gps, and other stuff texting isn't the only culprit. Doesn't make texting any better, but other stuff isn't much worse either. People still crash all the time even though they arnt on the phone. Another risk when taking the truck out on the road.

LMFAO, I bet the OP was playing Pokeman go.
These damn kids need to grow up, quit voting for Bernie and Hillary and become self sustaining individuals who don't need to rely on the government to get them by.

no one ever said texting. But some are acting like texting is the only distraction out there that we need to worry about... like its somehow soooo much worse than anything else. NO one ever tried to justify texting.. But rather to reiterate that ALL distracted driving is the issue, and it doesn't matter what happened in this instance. Its the people who act like just because they don't text, that they are never remotely distracted because everything else they do, like paying attention to their stupid GPS instead of knowing your route before you leave, or eating a cheeseburger, or whatever it may be, is just fine, because they aren't texting, are the ones that need to grow up.

Just remember not to look down when getting extra attention from your GF (or BF, not judging). That could end badly if there is a sudden stop.

The people who are all over texting while driving probably opt to check their phones at a stop light, forcing me to blow my damn horn considering the light changed five minutes ago

Is it? Doesn't stop people from crashing. Not sure if you have been on this planet long but yea other things cause accidents as well. Pokémon is for the kids bro.

Front crash airbags are deployed and monitored by occupancy sensor inside of the seat bottom. It is a thin paper like material in the cushion that registers weight to let the vehicle know that someone is sitting in the seat and airbags would need to go off if in an accident. You can test that by going out to your truck no one is sitting in the passenger seat your light will say pass air bag off put something heavy in the seat and that light will go off. Seat belts do not register it because sadly some people choose not to wear seat belts. Side curtain airbags are sensored by impact only for instance if you got t-boned hard enough even with no one on the passenger side that side would go off if hit hard enough. Hope that helps.

OP without your truck "torn down" hard to tell if it's totaled or not. It looks like all damage is about the left frame rail (which is why your airbags didn't deploy) (sensor is mounted inside of rail engine side) and that would mean it'll probally fix all according though to each states total % laws. NC is 75%.
