I store all my spare sand in there; spare change, spare pens, spare breath mints, spare tire, spare engine, spare balljoints, other TW members.... I keep a lot right on top of my gauge faces.

Filled up At a crappy gas station in Nevada the other day

Noticed the truck running like garbage.. kind of lurching at low rpm cruising and also accelerating hard. Changed the plugs and wires today and helped a lot but still doing in a little.

Hopefully it's just the bad gas in it

I've often wondered if bad gas is actually a thing. I have filled up at some tiny and some sketchy stations and never had the truck or the car run like shit because of it. I'm sure it can happen but can it really happen as often as I see it posted here as a reason for poor running.

Not sure either to be honest. I replaced the plugs/wires today with Toyota oem ones and helped a bit but really think it's just the gas. If not then I'll start replacing more parts from there :bananadead:

Before filling at that station the truck has never ran poorly

Not sure if bad gas is a thing, I would assume it is. The one thing I don't do is fill up right after the tanker refills the station. Heard it stirs up all the shit at the bottom and can possibly make it into your tank.

Don't just replace part, do some diagnostics!

Well I just did a gauge swap. The cluster I put in had 10k miles on it before I swapped the odometer units, so I am being very gentle with it.

I've heard that too, but not too much to worry about with the strainer sock and fuel filter being present. FWIW I fill up at Costco a lot and the Kenan truck is always there refilling (cause Costco gas is the shit... price wise) haven't had any issues with it.

Don't need a CEL to diagnose, you're already better than the CEL by noticing something is wrong.

Assuming a station is following the law, there is no bad gas. All gas has to follow the same federal regulations. This goes for one-off stations or Top Tier ones. The difference between Top Tier and standard stations is that Top Tiers will put varying degrees of various cleaners and such that are supposed to help care for the engine in the long term.

The only time you're really going to see actually bad gas is if a station is doing shit they're not supposed to be doing. For example, a station a town over from me got popped for literally watering down their gas. I'm sure it wasn't substantial, or the results would be too obvious, but apparently someone noticed and the station was investigated and shut down.

Yea I notice every little thing and try to address it.

My possible thoughts as to why it's running like crap:
    -plugs/wires (changed today)
    -fuel filter
    -fuel pump
    -water in tank
    -crappy gas
    -clogged injectors?
    -dirt/debris in gas
    -bad coil pack

I've always thought the same thing.

Until I filled up at this station in Nevada...

Just make sure you test those suggestions for possible issues, you can look up various ways to test those without parts swapping. Also, Nevada.... there's your problem lady!

Possible they are messing with their gas or something is wrong with the equipment, be it above ground or otherwise.

Or it could be a coincidence, and whatever the issue was happened to manifest itself at that time.

Yea I had to fill there :annoyed:

Possibly, hopefully the problem dismisses itself after the tank is gone through

I usually give non-critical issues a chance to correct themselves. And often enough, they do.

I agree, which leads me to think of the possibility of water getting into the tank or the gas before fill up
