I went 97k on original pads / rotors, and the pads still had life in them...:anonymous:

Lol, well I dont know you, and havent wheeled with you, so I was just using 60k brakes as a general statement.

I guess maybe part of my issue is I never keep a vehicle long enough to put 60k on it to see what wears out when. Some I never changed the oil in. :hattip:

You were not ignored. As an old man I just looked past those trivial details. So I am curious when your pads looked "newish" prior to running to the hills, what was your mileage? That will help me put it into perspective and meet you half way to your safe space. :D

o_O You hoping it'll fall out of your brain?

What I remember reading is how your brain compartmentalizes stuff just like a room. So when you go through a doorway your brain like the room changes to a new area.

No speakers. Still OEM JBL system with a bad ass head unit. And I have Alcan springs already. They function quite well actually. :D

haha. it was probably sometime in august. possibly 5K ago. Never had an issue with them making brake dust, but they sounded like they were dragging so I took them off to look, and found no issue other than the groove in the pad was full of crap, including some tiny rock pieces.

Which speaking of rotors. Any issues with the slotted and drilled rotors when using offroad?

Typically I'm running my engine between 3.5 and 5k while rolling down a hill. I 70 is easy to not even hit the brakes unless traffic is stupid so I try not to use that as an example. When canyon carving you might still have to hit your brakes for the occasional switchback but let them revs get up there.

Have you had any panic stops recently that, in the back of your mind, you think there is a possibility that you bent the brake pedal/linkage? I have seen some, though usually after an accident where people have bent the linkage requiring adjustments. Or another thought, really mashing the brakes while winching someone out.

Yeah... if I am reading a magazine or on a webpage and forget something, I'll go back until I find whatever triggered that thought and BOOM!

F' it! Brake pads are a wear and tear item. It's just like using more fuel because of lift and added weight. Just part of the game.

Panic stops, no... winching, yes. I was told to put it in drive and hold the brakes vs leaving it in park and worry about breaking the park gear thingy in the transmission. So I've done 3? recoveries. The last one was a LOT of just holding on the brakes while we worked the vehicle back and forth.

If you might get into mud skip cross drilled rotors as they will pack full of mud. I have slotted only rotors and they have been great. Honestly if I 17" wheels I would do the Stop Tech big brake upgrade to help with my added weight. My fully loaded weight is about 6200k.

I figured 33k was pretty decent for the stock pads. But all these old folks are telling me no. :annoyed:

I only have been in mud once, and ... I avoid it if possible.
