I have to figure out if my truck qualifies. And I'm not sure if mine is a problem or not.

Call Toyota and give them your vin number they might be able to tell you if your truck is part of the special service campaign for lower ball joints.

When I bought the truck, I saw nothing of it on the history report, just a couple regular maintenance things showed up. My original question still remains unanswered. I have never experienced a bad ball joint. What are some signs, if anyone knows?

    getting there....
just had mine done today bro. as for telltale signs, i could feel a good vibration between 60 to 70 and it felt like something in the front suspension was kinda loose. but thats about the only thing i could tell. but at first i thought it was just cause my shocks were shot, but i put my new billy 5100's on this weekend and that wasnt it. since its a recall, they will do it for ya.

I suspect my ball joints may be shot but I purchased the 2001 Taco in 2008 and it currently has 125K on it so I might be out of luck. :(

    getting there....
They can pull the vin info up and see if its been done. If its not in their system.....they'll probably do it as recall anyway. I'd check on it.

Yes, do it. I bouthg a 2001 in 2009, and I had mine done last year. No questions. The VIN comes up in their system, make an appointment, and you get a free alignment out of it.

Do it now. Some batches of LBJs were subjected to a scratch defect during manufacture. Not all trucks are affected, but better to be sure. The results of failure could be very dangerous (i.e., kill you and eveyone around you for hundreds of miles).

You can also register at toyotaownersonline.com, enter your VIN, and get your answer. At least I think that is the site...

Well I called Toyota today during lunch and my VIN number is not included in that recall, bummer because I suspect something is way loose in my front end. Oh well I will find out more this weekend when I break out the old motorcycle fork leg and start prying.
