Oh he had that too. Cyl head got replaced and steering column too. There wasn't a part of that truck that wasn't a total piece of shit. Engine, brakes, trim were all terrible!

I replaced the antenna base on my truck, just because I couldn't get any radio signal. It is not a hard job, but the clips that hold onto the antenna wire inside the cab are a pain to take out!

I believe the 5 cylinder Colorado's were good for eating valves too. Researching those trucks is what led me to buy the Tacoma.

Howdy y'all- Greetings from just outside of Concord, NH- I've been here for a bit over a year and never noticed this thread. I need some help- please. I've spent a fair amount of time on this site researching and obsessing over tires and keep going in circles. What do you recommend? I'm asking here because a lot of the posts I see are from people in other parts of the country, but our weather is a tad unique. I also really don't do any offroading and have zero intention of ever doing anything profound. I have a 15 Sport. 50/50 highway/ backroads. My factory tires are about done, and after the ride from here to a bit north of Springfield MA this morning and sliding all over the place, I think it's time. It's normally a two hour ride and it took over three. I'm not sure what to get. I see Grabber AT2's get really good reviews, but I'm not sure I really need an all terrain. At some point I'm thinking of a dedicated set of snows like I've run on other cars in the past, but not this season. Any suggestions for a tire that will do a bit of both well?

Honestly my opinion is that you get some solid all terrain tires, I had geolander h/t on my truck and they were great in the snow but anything slicker than that and it sucked. But then again on ice you're screwed anyways. I ran those for almost 10k miles before I got the new set for off roading and the h/t's were barely touched. Currently I have Firestone destination a/t right now and love them. Although we haven't encountered much snow yet they did great off roading in the slick snow/rocks a few weekends ago.

Do you have any snow at all? Hitting South Shore this weekend and forgot to ask my parents what they had.

And thanks for your feedback- from what I see All Terrians give a bumpier/ rougher/ rough responsive ride, but are a bit better at the snow/ mud/ offroad stuff.

    Correct?

If so, it's not too much of an issue- I've owned a lot of cars in my life and have learned to appreciate a car/ruck for what it is.

How is gas mileage over factory with these? I average 19.5 year round after almost 30,000 miles.

We got like 4 inches but it was a joke. I was hoping to get more before I get sent to oregon but it looks like that isn't going to happen. There are piles of snow around but the streets are clear.

Check out Cooper at3s or atw. Atw is what we have on the wife's t4r and they have been great. They are both pretty mild all terrain tires, only difference is the atw has a shitload more siping than the at3. They are a great all around tire and pretty damn good in the winter.

Both 4 and 5 bangers were, not unique. 2004 through part of 2006 were the problematic ones.

I got what turned out to be the "Bro" tires, lol. BFG A/T KO2's, they have the snowflake on them so they are considered snow tires. Some places I drive requires chains, and you don't need chains if you have the snow flake and 4x4. I think they work great for highway and general New England driving. No noticeable road noise and they have performed well for me. One issue is on certain roads, mainly two sections of Storrow drive in Boston, when its wet out the rear wants to step out going around turns, but that's probably more about not having any weight in the rear and adding turning input while being on the gas (decreasing radius turn). They supposedly get like 50k miles before they wear out so that was another plus for me.

I'll be getting some dedicated trail wheels/tires when I can save up some loot.

I have yet to find a car that didn't step out on me on storrow with my driving... The evo with 255 semi track tires wouldn't stick and I may have accidentally gotten a certain gtr a bit squirrely with 310's.... The off angle corners with built in wave simulators on that road cause so many accidents...
