I have to say, I am enjoying toyota getting reamed...

With all of the known issues with the Tacomas and how their dealerships treat us like crap, it's nice to see they are taking one or two on the chin. Maybe they will listen a little better when it comes to us. Doubt it, but maybe.

 

Everyone makes mistakes and/or has issues.....and unfortunately, it's Toyota's turn this time around.

I just hope their quality efforts go back to their routes and get their quality like it was back in 2000 or earlier.

 

Its their reputation that will cost them. Yes, the end user pays for it in the long run

 

It is their own fault. Five or six years ago, in an effort to cut costs when they were trying to become the #1 world car company, they failed to hire the 400 or so engineers needed for design. It was predicted they would end up with millions in recalls. Now it has happened.

 

I dont mind paying for something that will give me peace of mind. Knowing that I have faulty motor mounts on my 2005 Tacoma doesnt give me peace of mind when I go over some unsteady ground. Or knowing that I may lose my tranny when I feel my Taco shift hard after a supposed flush of the tranny fluid and the dealer says it is considered normal. Or when my sealed U-joints fail after 85,000 texas highway miles. Or my airbag light goes on at 45K due to a faulty Ring in my steering wheel.

These are things that shouldn't happen. These are reasons I bought a Toyota, for them not to happen. Alas, I am one step behind the curve on this one again.

 

I had a 2000 Tundra. I now have a 09 Tacoma. My next truck will probably not be a Toyota.

I hope most of the recalls were sold by Mountain states Toyota so they get fucked in there goat ass on this!! Nothing would make me more happy to see that shit hole dealer have to replace a bunch of shit!

 

If you dont like your truck... sell it... No one is making you drive a Tacoma right now... Go buy a GM or Ford, Dodge, or Nissan. Drive it for a few years then repost on the problems you have or are having and then say how bad your Tacoma is. I doubt you will be as satisfied.

 

Everyone always goes back to that when someone says one bad thing about toyota. I had 3 fords with more than 150k on them and neither of them had any problems. I love my toyota and would not want another truck but still other makers are making fine cars/trucks.

 

I enjoy my truck. I am just surprised with the issues I have had with it. There are a half dozen other issues that I have with it but try to ignore and do. I had a Honda Odyssey(yes a mini-van) and had 0 issues with it for 3 years-then sold it to get this truck after a divorce. I had a bmw which was a nightmare and will never buy another bmw. Etc etc.
I bought the tacoma to not to have any issues with it at all. Just surprised and disappointed I do. Seeing how they fix problems on the down low and then deny there was even a problem at all, is not a company I will support in the future. Time to short their stock...darn, late to that as well. Ha.

 

My dealership rocks. They do a TSB like you asked them to add air to a tire - no problems. Besides, every car out there has issues.

Many of you have not been around long enough to remember the Chevy / GM engine mounts tearing in two. Mostly the left engine mount was the culprit. The engine would raise to the right and many times cause the throttle to stick wide open as it extended the linkage to a wide open position. The quick fix was to replace the motor mounts and add a cable tie down to both sides of the engine. The cable was placed around the mount bolt, single bolt lengthwise to the vehicle which held the engine to the frame,.and using a metal pin and cotter pin and bracket was attached to the exhaust manifold. Pretty simple fix as the engine could no longer raise very far.
After a year or so they built a tie down into the metal of the mount like a "T" coming from the top metal part of the mount to slide into a slot under the bottom metal part, with the rubber in between.

Every auto manufacturer has its issues. Some are beating the heck out of the made in the US drum and say the US autos are not quality plagued, I guess we will see how this all comes out in the wash. So many of these auto faults are no longer a memory though a really big deal at the time. The Jeep CJ-5 was singled out as very easy to roll over, it was I did it , the Ford Explorer with the Firestone tires. I wonder how many US made autos use Drive by Wire. I found the F-150 has had it since 2004 in some form.

 

The media loves this stuff... Is like when someone famous screws up. They make a huge deal about it. They are still people and people make mistakes, same as the Toyota. They have made a mistake and are correcting the problem. They didn't intentionally make this mistake but they are taking full responsibility for their mistake. When Ford had the problem with the tires on the Explores they completely blamed Firestone and didn't want to take the responsibility for a mistake they made. At least Toyota is working with the supplier to correct the problem and make things right. When you’re the number 1 Car Company and you make a mistake it’s a huge deal. Not because you made a mistake but because you are #1.

 

The media shouldn't be blindly trusted either, remember when Dateline or whatever was detonating the gas tank of some car to show it blow up and say that could happen to you??

 

Toyota is in fact blaming CST much like Ford blamed Firestone...

 

Yet to be scewed by Toyota.

 

Toyota said the cause of the problem was CTS, but they worked together to find the problem and come up with a solution to the problem. CTS is still making parts for Toyota. Find a new Ford with Firestone Tires???????

 

Its to darn easy... take your flour mat out, and on the radio today the spokes pearson for toyota said on the new 2010 prius hybrid there is a short laps w/o brakes when you hit a bump while braking. She said it was due to the abs sensor. Just another thing they are going to go crazy over.

 

The reason Toyota is getting so much more airtime than Ford or GM's recent recalls is because Toyota has a reputation for building the highest quality vehicles, so this is a big deal for them. Ford and GM have only recently (last 6-8 years) started building premium-quality vehicles, so it's not such a surprise to learn they are having recalls. Not bashing domestic makes -- I've always driven Fords and this is my first Toyota. My $0.02
