I just feel like there is always that one guy who will bring up that corn companies are making bank on this so they must have to do with the change.

I drive roughly 550 miles a week. The past two weeks. I've been using no ethanol 87, instead of E87. 20.8 mpg normal average (hand calc.). Today was 21.4. Same route, Cruise control roughly 88% of the time. Tons of other variables. But there's my numbers.

So what's the move? Should I use e85 or not? I don't care about price difference if the truck gets better mpg, has more power, and will last me longer down the road.

E85? I don't think Toyota makes an engine compatible with E85. Most say don't use anything more than 10% ethanol on the gas cap! Personally I use 100% gasoline/ 91 octane. And get better mileage and performance than 90% gas/10% ethanol.

The 5.7s found in Tundras and Sequoias have a FlexFuel option.

Recorded my highest fuel mileage ever on my FJ cruiser and Tacoma on ethanol free.

FJ had a 2.5 mpg improvement to 23.7 tank average (averaged 21.2 over 30,000 tracked miles). Tacoma saw 24.6 mpg tank average after 1900 tracked miles. A much smaller sampling, but a 1.6 mpg increase on tank average seems coincidental.

Down here in Charlotte we have Quick Trips (QT) that all have Ethanol Free, I run that most of the time.

It will run leaner with ethanol gas.

Try both but most engines run better with out ethanol with stock tuning.

But when tuned, people make the most power with E85.

For daily use, use the cheapest.

But for towing or off roading run ethanol free and/or higher octane if you can.

In WI we have can get non ethanol premium from BP and Shell in some areas and my 2010 with stock tuning ran best with 1/2 tank of non ethanol premium and 1/2 87 ethanol.

Now I have it tuned for 87 ethanol gas with the unichip and runs great. The non ethanol is not available wear I live.

So run both and see what you truck likes for the driving that YOU do.

Speaking of 100LL AVgas, I just so happen to work at an airport and can readily get my hands on it (and for cheap)!! Was wondering how much I should mix in with my normal fuel ups to help boost octane?? Like 1 gallon 100LL per fill up or as much as 50/50? The lead content won't affect anything I presume?

When they first started using ethanol in gas it wrecked havoc with many boat owners whose built in tanks were fiberglass and the tanks started to melt. I winterize all my small engines with ethanol free to avoid carburetor issues in the spring.
