Due to the problems identified here on the tacomas, I considered a lease just to get past it and let the improvements come in future years. I did however buy one and I get it in Jan. Hooray.

A new frame on an 06 tacoma with 185k miles? For zero $$? That's enough to make me want to buy another.

Didn't, but what's your point? They obviously don't operate similarly.

How much denial and ass pain did owners have to go through to get to the point where Toyota decided to replace them?

I wish he would have made 12 threads about this. I'd rather see this thread over another tire size question thread

OK serious question.....you didn't like your Tacoma and dumped it....whatevs.

But why do you feel the need to hang around the here and talk politely worded shit on Tacos and praise Colwhoreados?

People always bag on the new tacoma for reliability issues, and most of them have solid reasons too. However, I am just pointing out that colorado's have their problems as well, which something I hardly hear people acknowledge on this sight. The issues Iv'e read seem far worse than the complaints coming from third gen owners, especially since the colorado's are in their second years of production. I am not by any means happy with the quality of the tacoma compared to other toyota's I have owned. I might trade mine with a 4runner actually.

This depends on the dealer. I personally have had good luck with my dealer. Keep in mind toyota has already come out with fixes for the transmission problems and other problems. They have been listening.

Sure Colorado has its problems. I just expect better from Toyota. Not sure why that is such a hard concept for folks to grasp...expectations. That is WHY we bought a Toyota.

I completely understand that, but as a general rule l lower my expectations for the first production year of a new model.

It isn't like they developed a new Moon Landing Vehicle here. This was a very evolutionary "redesign" and they had nearly a decade to get it right.

Obviously the redesign was rushed to compete with the chevy twins, so that's why my expectations were lower on this vehicle. And btw vehicles are incredibly complicated if you haven't noticed.

They knew they'd release at the 10 year point? That's probably been on the books as a project planned for years now. Why the rush. Get it right the first time. On top of that many of the 2017s had the same problems from factory.

I'm not a fanboy if either truck. They are different trucks for different needs. I stay here because the Canyon forum is boring, and because people like you tell me to leave because I don't own a Turd gen anymore. Look around, there are a ton of people on here that dont own one. So I'm going to stick around, and if you have problem with it, there is an ignore button. Pull the covers over your head, and keep telling yourself the Tacoma is the best truck ever made. There's no truck like Tacoma, there's no truck like Tacoma...

You probably don't hear about issues with the GM twins on here because hardly anyone on here owns one, and the ones that do, get told to get off this forum by the fanboys. You are correct, no vehicle is perfect, not the GM twins, and not the Tacoma. I do think Toyota completely screwed up the powertrain on the 3rd gen. I so wanted to love that truck, and convinced myself I did for a while, like many people on here. Even with the powertrain, it's a great truck if you aren't highway driving, and you off-road a lot.

I'm surprised Toyota is have problems, they didn't change the truck that much..

The transmission sifting problems aren't from quality but having a small engine with dual overdrive, it will have to down shift 2-3 gears to go.
It's not set up for power but max MPG so there are trade offs in performance.
So it's not a quality issue but a philosophy issue.
I think they should use a larger engine with a single overdrive, that would improve drive ability and performance dramatically.

So I don't think some of the issues are quality related but bad decisions by Toyota.
But every time I look at other brands real reliability issue keep popping up.

All we can do is keep griping till Toyota fixes the issues and they will, eventually....
We can be brand loyal and still complain about things we don't like.

Personally I want more diesel options. I could not afford a Twin with the diesel but outside the US almost all trucks have a diesel in the product line.
