So i just checked my cigarette lighter to plug in a little air pump for my dirtbike tire. When i pulled out the cigarette lighter the whole assembly came out, it was never connected! haha i cant believe i have had this truck for 5 years and never used the damn lighter. It was slightly aggravating though. Has anyone ever connected one?

I have tapped the 12V cig lighter and extended to the back of my truck for an extra outlet.

    FINISHED PROJECT

It's very difficult (time consuming) to access the panel where the cig lighter is. I had to remove several dash panels before I could finally get to the one I wanted. It will take about an hour if you have never done it before.

Somewhere on TW are directions how to disassemble your dash. Those papers on my dash in the picture are the instructions. LOL

Here is a pic of when I did mine. It looks a lot worse than it really is.

It's a dash mat; and a personal preference. I think they're nice; it cuts glare, reduces heat and protects the dash from rotting in the sun.

Yea the whole thing came out and it wont work. I had never used it before and nothing works in it. I dont know if its worth it to actually get it connected, i mean i only tried to use it once in 5 years. Its the one by the drivers side BTW

Woody, It might be easier to use the "add-a circuit" to tap into the fuse-block and connect it that way. Especially if the factory wire harness is missing. I suspect it's probably back there somewhere though.
