Got to say... as a Mod, why not do something about it? There are a select few members that consistently do this to new members. Its almost a guarantee that someone will post an "a-hole" comment when a thread like this come up. 99% of the time its those same members.

I hate seeing a new members 1st post say.. "I have been lurking for a while, I used the search button or sorry if this sounds dumb"

Why just lurk? Because of a-holes... thats why. Again... why not take care of it?!?

I dont even understand the need to post those comments. If you think its that much of a waste of time then why take more time to comment about how dumb it is? Seriously people.....

We can't see everything that goes on, and until it's reported...no guarantee we'll see the asshole comments...

Also, things were done, and things were deleted...soooo yeahhh

Very interesting thread. I resolve to crack open the "encyclopaedia brittanica" and do my homework. I'm serious about this. I was planning on dumping them in the back of the bed to weight down the rear wheels. On second thought maybe leave them in the garage....my MPG should go through the roof:)

Really like it here and the shitstorms are just part if the nature of things. Read the opening of the half time thread- mo members mo problems- but this forum is still really great.

This is why there should be a 3rd gen newbie, non-flaming section. There are lots of new people to Tacoma's because of the 3rd gen. and many of the people that frequent this site regularly get tired of the the same threads popping up.

The fact that you can ignore people is ridiculous. If you can't handle some keyboard trolling / flaming, how are you ever going to make it in life, little lone deal with an asshole boss/ dad.

Pirate4x4 has two Jeep sections Non-Hardcore (no flaming allowed), Hardcore (flame suits required).

There were lots of people new to Tacomas in 1995, and then again in 2005 too....without issue

I get this same response every time from a mod. Again, it will be the SAME member(s) who post the next ahole comment. You deleted it, but I would bet tomorrow/next week/whenever, he/she will be back. And post something simular all over again. Deleting the post does nothing.

Sorry for the mini rant here. But in the few months Ive been around. I have seen an obvious pattern.

I'm glad you know everything that we do around here  but you missed the part where the guy who was being a big enough jerk to bring a report hasn't been able to post here since...sooo....good catch on that

But that has to be taken into context. Even in the thread you quoted you talked about the number of members going up. Internet has exploded since the release of 2nd gen. A ton more members/people on the interwebs.

Thanks... but once again, we will see tomorrow/next week on another thread. Guess I am not making myself clear here.

So would you prefer that the volunteer staff quit their jobs and monitor the site non stop? Or would you prefer to be part of the solution and actually report some of the posts when people continue to be assholes so we know about it?

I completely agree. No need to act like that. More people who buy/own the Tacos only help keep that resale value up. Why treat them like that.

I think we're on the same page...that people need to stop acting like jerks here

However we cannot possibly see every post...sometimes i go 2 or 3 days without being able to handle anything...same with the other staff...we rely on the reports

if we don't get them then we assume things aren't burning to the ground

I will admit, I never use it because I didnt think/seeanything come about it.

Honestly I have seen MUCH worse be allowed by other mods. I DO thank you for taking care of it. I will use it. Hopefully the trend will change.

I think there needs to be a happy medium between people getting offended by everything seen on the internet, needing a safe space, and everyone being a giant cynical asshole TBH

Kinda like how was is 1995 :anonymous:

It is mostly about new members. Once someone has been around awhile they hopefully learn the ropes. And some members are more likely to jump on newbie questions.
But again, all in all TW is pretty great.
