Hope this is not a repeat, but I didn't see it..

Looking for something like early in this thread for the console with Compass and Temp that will fit a 2014

Search online and on eBay has been fruitless.

    Any ideas?

I wonder if the compass section from the 2008 would fit in place of the eye glass holder on a 2014?

Any idea what the part number is for the plastic part that holds the compass unit?

If I replace the the plastic piece that is currently a glasses holder, I need to replace it with something to hold the compass unit.

Unfortunately Toyota don't just sell that one specific part. You're gonna have to get the whole overhead console with the compass/ temp gauge.

I got kind of lucky and got one from eBay.

    Edit:
Seen one on eBay w/o the gauge but it had the holder just a few minutes ago, looked back and looks like someone bought it.

    Thanks.

Since mine has the microphone in between the lights, I ordered an 2005 unit off eBay and without the compass, but with the compass holder. Next I ordered a new model compass until. So I am almost $200 into it. Once it arrives, I'll order the sending unit. I also ordered a Homelink rear mirror that I'll install at the same time.

Turns out, the 2005 unit is the same size as my 2014. So either they fit, or the seller sent me a newer unit.

I suppose I'll cut the extra plastic so the compass unit holder will fit in my existing console.

I found the sending unit on the cheep here:
    https://goo.gl/3pZSiI

It will take 10-20 days to get here, but at a great price.

You can always just transfer the temp/compass gauge holder to your existing overhead console, that's what I did.

So, now I see that I need a connection for:
    1. The Mic
    2. The lights
    3. Power for the heart view mirror with Homelink
    4. Power for the Compass and a lead to sensor (yet to be purchased)

Anyone done this and willing to share how to diagram?

    I already have 3 connectors
    1. for the lights
    2. for the mic
    3. What I think is a 3 lead power connector for the mirror

Not sure how to connect the compass or the temp sensor lead

So here are the (3) connection that I have to deal with.
    Top left is the Mic
    Top right is the Compass
    Bottom is the lights

Finished product after trimming the arms that held the old glasses holder

Rear view, used some JB Weld to hold things in place and to avoid rattle

Need to figure out what to do with the Mic connection since its holder was on the back of the glasses holder removed

Moved holding clips from original to new assembly

Was lucky enough to find the sensor already installed.

@MoJo3 I suggest you not tap into that existing sensor. I could be wrong but that's for the AC amplifier (if someone knows please correct me). Can't really say what it does because I have no clue haha.

Hopefully this will help. It's pretty much a break down on mine.

I had to get the whole overhead console assembly with the temp/compass, from an 08. I don't think Toyota just sells the trim piece where the gauge mounts.

    I got it from eBay.

Luckily it came with the plug that plugs into the gauge. Cause by the looks of it the ones I've seen being sold doesn't come with it.

Here it is laid out. Terminal Repair wires connects to the Connector Housing. Housing Connector plugs into the ambient temperature sensor.

That's pretty much all the parts that I got, besides the miscellaneous wires that I needed that I already had in hand.

I had another member PM regarding the mod. So I just cut and paste my reply. Hopefully it'll answer everything. Sorry if some stuffs are repeated and all the infos are jumbled up haha. I just wanted to reply back, didn't have time to edit. If I missed something please let me know. Anything to help out.

You're going to have to tap into 2 wires from the auto dimming
Wires from the gauge plug connects to-
Green= Illumination+ > Red wire from rearview mirror plug.
Light Green= Ignition+ > Light Green from rearview mirror plug.

For the Ground from the gauge plug= Black w/white stripe wire tap into the > map light Ground= also Black w/white stripe wire.

    To check my understanding:
-The opening will accommodate the temp/compass monitor from an 05-08; however, to get the module to fit flush, I'll need to trim down some plastic with a sharp knife.
Yes sir. I recommend a utility knife. From looking at it the console is pretty much the same from 05-15. I guess Toyota made some little tweak to it. You'll know what I'm talking about ones you get your hand on one and you compare it to your current console.

-The 05-08 gets the temp from a temperature sensor that I can add. The 09-11 got it from the AC amplifier. Since that isn't as straight forward or not even possible, stick with the 05-08 because that route is doable.
    Yes.

    Question
-For Temperature, I buy the sensor as you indicated as well as housing and leads. As for the leads you have available, are those for the overhead console connector or the temperature housing? I also presume I'll need to run wires out to the radiator where I'll mount the temp sensor, correct?
Unfortunately the leads are for the connector housing plug. It might be hard to find the main connector for the gauge because the ones I've seen on eBay doesn't come with one. I got lucky when I got mine. Best bet would be a pick and pull auto junkyard.

So you'll need to extend 3 wires, 2 wires for the ambient temp sensor that goes in front of the radiator, and 1 for the VSS.

-My overhead console has a connector with 3 wires. I thought they were Constant power, Accessory power, and Ground. I'll need to add Vehicle Speed Sensor wire and the 2 temperature sensor wires, correct?

Are you talking about the plug that connects to the auto dimming mirrors? If it is I mention which wires to tap into.

Thanks for your help and the pictures.

    Regards,
    David

I used that sensor location and it works great! I read through thread after thread before doing this mod and several others did the same and I haven't had any issues....

    You guys are pretty awesome.

My Compass unit did not have the female connector, so I'll be fabricating something for it and then I suppose I'll run 3 wires down the support between the driver door and the windshield (A Pillar) then tap into the (3) existing wires defined above by @adio

    Yet another question:

On your description and on the Accessory Meter Diagram the connection to the sensor is Grey/Yellow. My sensor wiring is Grey/Violet.

I'm hoping I can assume The grey leads are the common denominator and it is the TEMP- lead, so in my case the Violet would sub as Yellow in your diagram as TEMP+

    Thoughts?

Note: The connector on the Compass/Temp Unit is 10P04K-M. Finding a female for this is tuff.

I ordered 5 (minimum) from Eastern Beaver MotorCycle, so if someone needs one, I can send you one for my cost+shipping.

    10P040K-M.jpg
    Male Connection, Facing Open End
1 = Lt. Green from AutoDim Connector
    2 = Black/White from Map Light Connector
    3 = Violet from VSS
4 = Red from AutoDim Connector
    5 = TEMP + (Yellow or Violet/White)
    6 = TEMP - (Grey)
