Wtf is an exhaust damper? Sounds as useless as a muffler bearing.

 

To my knowledge, no first gens came with t-case skids from the factory. They should've though, it's definitely vulnerable without one.

Either way, you don't need it.

 

Exhaust has a lot of vibration and flexing. There's a reason for dampeners and rubber exhaust hangers, and why it isn't just steel welded to steel.

 

The need for rubber hangers is obvious. A big heavy piece of rubber/metal bolted to a muffler; less obvious.

Dampeners on a tranny I can see, given all the moving parts inside. But this is the first I (and other people) have ever heard of dampeners on an exhaust. My first gen doesn't have them, nor does any car I've ever owned, which is why I just don't see them as a critical piece of hardware.

Exhaust dampeners, something that's told it has a purpose to make it feel better about itself.

 

Many vehicles, particularly ones with long exhausts have dampers. Nothing new or unusual

 

Youl see alot of new vehicles with them. Especially fords. actually ford is putting them everywhere nowadays

Got a pic? Not doubting you, I'm genuinely curious. Cause I've never seen or heard of it, mine has one but its an aftermarket Skidrow tcase skid that the PO presumably put on
